4.0 out of 5 stars My first exposure to Jack's Mannequin December 10, 2011

Jack's Mannequin is an American rock band formed in 2004, originally hailing from Orange County, California. The band began as a side project of Andrew McMahon, the front man for Something Corporate, and is composed of guitarist Bobby Anderson, bassist Mikey "The Kid" Wagner, and drummer Jay McMillan. "The Lights and Buzz" is a digitally released single from 2005.

"The Lights and Buzz" is hardly a typical Christmas song, but it's a catchy tune, particularly the refrain, where the lead singer comments on spending Christmas in a land of endless summer:

I'm coming home from my hardest year
I'm making plans not to make plans while I'm here
And this life has been no holiday, a complicated situation
I'm fine with all my memories
Still I could use vacation

It's Christmas in California
And it's hard to ignore that it feels like summer all the time
But I'll take a west coast winter to remove my splinters
