As a business owner who depends on social media to promote my books, I don't have the time not inclination to read any of these so called get rich quick through social media schemes. This is not that!

Brian Carter walks you through methods and strategies behind using Facebook to help drive customer interest and ultimately generate revenue via everyone's favorite social meeting place on the web.

The best part of the book - for me at least - was the section on how to turn FaceLookers into FaceBuyers. Carter doesn't just tell what doesn't work - he tells you what works based on real-world experience. I'm going to be putting these suggestions and methodologies to work in my campaigns immediately. They are solid and workable techniques.

If you are looking for a book that can help you engage your potential customers where they are most comfortable and ready to hear your message - The Like Economy is a fountain of information and examples to get you where you want to be in the social media world!

I have purchased and / or read several books on how to take advantage of maximizing your investment potential or returns on Facebook, even spending a couple of hundred bucks following some of the advice I have read. After reading this book, I implemented some of the strategies in two Facebook marketing campaigns and I am pleased.

One thing that I got out of the book is its more than just doing something on FB, but what are you doing in your other activities (emails, web pages, etc.) to increase your FB presence. No matter if you think it is a good or bad thing, the reality is if you are a business you need to have a FB presence. This book isn't the end all to be all books about the topic, but there is an engaging writing style most people should be able to follow - you don't feel as if a techie is talking down to you or making it overly simplistic.

Similar to other books like this one, if you have used the FB advertising platform before, some of this will be familiar to you but you will also learn a few new tips and tricks. If you're looking for some new ideas, I'd recommend giving this one a try.

As a devout follower of Brian Carter's Fanreach Group, I have been "in school", learning the Facebook Platform for about two years - almost from the group's inception. My experience has been educational, and personally rewarding. The group has been one of the best associations I have been involved in during my professional life.

Brian's new book, "The Like Economy" is not only a review. It is also an update of all the teaching, all the experiences of group members, all the "Facebook" that one would need to truly understand the platform.

I would consider it a must read for anyone seriously considering doing business on Facebook. I'm in my second reading - even as I write this review.

Everyone knows that the best thing about Facebook is that you have a guaranteed targeted audience that you can market to. You do not need to worry about capturing the correct demographic or assessing if there is an interest for your product because if you are in an "interest based" Facebook community, you know that your customers are there. The problem is then, how do you best target these customers. Brian Carter answered these questions for me. My web based business (I have a Children's Health related web business) has had a Facebook page for years but I have been uncertain about how best to use my Facebook Fan page and other Facebook tools. The author has done a very good job of spelling out the steps to best use all of the arsenal that Facebook has for marketing.

Facebook is perhaps the most known social media website with hundreds of millions of people participating on a regular basis. But perhaps your opinion of Facebook is as conflicted as the remarks made by Betty White. When she hosted Saturday Night Live, Betty White acknowledged the power of Facebook by stating that a Facebook poll got her on the show. But she also stated that she thought Facebook was a big waste of time. Perhaps this sounds like you. If so, then The Like Economy will help you decide whether you should start or continue your work in Facebook.

Brian Carter is a marketing consultant who is help businesses tap into the power of social media like Facebook. Carter provides a step by step marketing plan. Carter explains that Facebook is essential to your business because life is a lot more like high school than college. People are moved more by popularity and the actions of peers than the cold hard facts. Facebook is so important to businesses because it taps into what people like and how they are more likely to trust their peers than experts.

Carters explains how to use Facebook for creating sales and for positioning the company's brand. Using the AIDA plan which stands for Attention- Interest- Desire- Action as the four steps of the sales program, Carter shows how Facebook provides the attention in the interest elements of sales and in for some businesses that desire and action depending on what you're selling.

What I appreciated about Carter's approach was that he did not overhype the benefits of Facebook for company. He repeatedly exhorts readers that working in Facebook may not provide immediate eye-popping profits. But notes that this fact is likely due to the tracking programs bias toward the last click.
