Book Description

How can a man be in two places at once?

An evil, ancient as time itself is inadvertently set free and begins to feed, threatening the Drycenian home world and all of her people with extinction.

A crime of unimaginable horror promises to destroy a bond of friendship that once transcended the gulf between two alien races.  An unspeakable murder with just one obvious suspect.

As Vincent faces execution, his friends find a truth so terrifying that none wishes to believe it.

What was once just whispered tales around the firesides of drunken men, is now these friends' horrifying reality, and one for which they must find a solution before it is too late for Vincent.

A cold and primitive world, half a galaxy away, proves to hold the only thread of hope for resolution, held within the memory of a mysterious spiritual leader.

As the Drycenians continue to die, the friends must find out how to kill an evil so ancient, it is thought to be nothing more than legend.

About the Author

Merita King has loved the science fiction and fantasy genre in both books and movies since she was a young child. She has been greatly inspired by years of watching movies and reading books and has wanted to make a contribution to this genre for many years. Her stories all contain a strong spiritual thread as she believes that spirituality is universal and crosses all boundaries. She believes that the creative process is largely intuitive and can be very effectively blocked by too much pre-planning. “Plot lines, characters and events all come to me intuitively,” she says, “and this makes the act of writing a constant pleasure.” She lives alone in Hampshire, UK.

5.0 out of 5 stars IT KEEPS ON GETTING BETTER AND BETTER!! December 5, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
"Changing Faces", the third book in the Lilean Chronicles, kicks off with Vincent and Farra starting out on their intended honeymoon on Drycenia. A honeymoon that becomes a nightmare when Vincent ends up accused of rape and murder and all this because an ignorant miner on a faraway moon could not leave a crystal, buried in a pile of ashes, alone. With the Drycenian princess dead, prince Toma mostly possessed by evil, the nation in uproar and their spirit guides once again partially cut off from them, Vincent, Farra, Kyle and Jam have to survive and, above all, win against all odds.

Every time I read a new book in this series I feel that it is better than the previous one and this one is no exception. The story takes off immediately and does not slow down until the last page. The suspense will keep you riveted to your chair as our heroes race to and fro across the gulf of space and take part in dangerous operations on various planets.

The author skillfully blends known space and science fiction technology with her own extremely inventive creations, thus ensuring that readers of both the si-fi and fantasy genres will want to devour her books. By working her world building into her story, Merita King cleverly avoids lengthy, boring explanations - an admirable feat as her fictional universe is extensive.

With every new book the well crafted characters are allowed to grow and develop a bit more within realistic limits. As the characters are never afraid to shed a tear or give a hug, I find the close emotional bond they have with one another very touching. New characters add a freshness to every new book and quickly endear themselves to the reader.

I highly recommend this more than 5 star read to anybody with a taste for space and fantasy related fiction but I would advise readers to get hold of the first two books in this magnificent series before reading "Changing Faces". (Ellen Fritz)

I absolutely LOVE this series of books.
This book see's our group of friends (hero's) in action once again, as they fight another evil, which they must beat in order to save Drycenia. As people are dying for no apparent reason. They must strive to stick together and trust one another.
With lots of twist's and secret's this book definitely keeps you gripped.
Will they manage to defeat the evil before all of Drycenia is lost???
Wow!!! What an ending. This series of books are FANTASTIC from the start of book 1- "Redemption" to the very end of this book 3- "Changing Faces".

5.0 out of 5 stars This is epic! September 19, 2012

Wow! I really thought Merita King had outdone herself when she came out with The Lilean Chronicles: Book Two, The Sleeping but she just ratcheted up the fantastic suspense. I became so enthrawled in the story, I actually lost sleep. Of course book one and book two are great as well and they'll be out in ebook soon. Merita certainly deserves all five stars for this wonderful story. I will be recommending this to all my friends who read science fantasy and space opera.

More About the Author

Ever seen that movie, Secret Window with Johnny Depp? If ever you want to know what I'm like when I'm writing, think of that movie. That's me, right down to the tattered bathrobe, unkempt hair and home like a hurricane victim. Everything stops when I'm writing/editing/formatting, I give it my whole attention. I would love to be one of those tidy writers, but I can't, I'm an all or nothing gal.

Science fiction has been a passion for me since I was a kid, largely motivated by my mother's love of the genre. Having grown up on a diet of Star Trek and Blake's 7, further fuelled by my parents' addiction to the physics of outer space, it was a foregone conclusion that I would grow up to be a sci fi nut. You are far more likely to find me watching a programme about how black holes work, than reality tv.

My dreams are big, and I believe that everyone should aim impossibly high. Although you might not quite reach the stars, if you just aim for the ground, you'll only hit the ground. I believe in destiny and pre-destination, reincarnation and alternate dimensions, human life being the result of alien experimentation, and bacon as a remedy for all ills.

I love to laugh but a joke must be clever as well as funny to make my lips quiver. Billy Connolly and George Carlin are my comedic heroes; you can keep your custard pies and banana skins.

Writing has proved to be the making of me in many ways. It has forced me to upgrade my vocabulary and knowledge, and it allows my naturally observant nature to be of positive benefit. Finally, as the Autumn years of my life begin, I now have a way to get my voice heard and my inner self flying to the stars where she has always wanted to be. I invent worlds, terraform them to my own design, and populate them with people of my own imagining. I cannot change the world I live in, and I cannot leave it for somewhere more comfortable, so I invent my own spend as much time in them as I can.

You are welcome to visit my universe. Take a chance and catch a flight today, you may just find you never want to return.
