Jarmunsch is one of the few directors who understands about the marriage between the music and images that make up a film. When either is neglected it shows and feels lopsided to the critical eye and ear; this slow film was complimented by slow music and it couldn't have worked out more perfectly. If you're wondering what kind of music to expect if you haven't seen the film, it's post rock/drone rock. The music has slight variances that are drawn out over a long timeframe--pretty much like the film.

This is the first album that I've been impressed enough with to review. I bought it to further my Boris collection but to my pleasant surprise the whole soundtrack is awesome. There's some amazing music here: the Black Angels to Boris to Shubert...and it all works! This soundtrack, with its very diverse artists, is wonderfully cohesive. After hearing the soundtrack I really want to see the film; the album though, stands very well on its own.

The movie was fascinating but I was most intrigued by the soundtrack. I was thrilled to find it for purchase and download on Amazon. The tracks are quite ecletic so there is no centering in a specific genre. I can't explain why it appeals to me so but it does... If you like different and provocative - you will love this album!!!
