I got On the Line after reading a PopCosmo review that called it a must-read for the beach. I brought it with me on spring break and was not disappointed! after the first thirty pages, I was so into finding out what happened that I couldn't stop reading. I even hid in the bathroom at one point to sneak in a few extra minutes of reading! If you like adventure, and real characters that actually act and sound like teenagers, give this book a try. It's so much more than a regular beach read. It's deep, exciting and REAL. I am definitely adding it to my list of favorite books!

This fantastic book is not just for teens! I bought one as a gift for a teenager I know and I started reading it myself. Loved it, couldn't put it down and I am way past being a teenager. The plot line, dialog and character development is perfect for any age. I suggest everyone read and enjoy!!

This is a well written, engaging story of young adult life lessons learned. Always looked forward to picking it up to find out more about the characters' approach to perceived teen angst. All issues were approached from a mature focus and quite realistic for today's teen's problems and relationships. A fun read.

Great Read! On the Line caught my attention from the beginning and I didn't put the book down until I was finished. Great setting in the Florida Keys and great descriptions of sea life, fishing and daily life style of the locals. The story line is relevant to the times with young people chipping in to help their families who are struggling to keep their heads above water in these tough economic times, and sea turtles trying to make a recovery after near extinction do to changing environmental conditions. This book is really a joy to read and has some good life lessons for young people. Great book for all ages!I can't wait for more!

I've been a voracious reader my entire life - it started with the Babysitter's Club at age 7 and I have had my nose buried in a book since. I recently had the pleasure of reading On The Line. What a gem! Of all the YA books I have read recently, this one would be my first suggestion for any parent inquiring about a topically appropriate and interesting book.

Upon opening the book the reader meets a young woman, Piper Wesley. Piper has such an incredible amount of ambition and passion for what she loves that it ultimately drives her to chase her dreams. She encounters a lot of temptation, betrayal, and obstacles along the way but she never lets her goals get in the way of the prize. The characters are narrated in such a way that the reader comes to understand they are innately good, despite the tendency to get caught up with social pressures as a teen. It teaches that people should be open-minded and patient with those they love. It shows responsibility, as Piper navigates her obligations to her family while training for the competition (which she enters so she may help her family financially). These are lessons that not every book focuses on teaching, but they are certainly impressed upon the reader in On The Line; these are lessons most teens could use some reinforcement in learning during the most impressionable years of their lives.

I spent a day reading this book cover to cover - I couldn't put it down. I can assure you that the same thing will happen when it arrives at your doorstep. Enjoy!

I loved On the Line! As a huge YA fan, is was awesome to read something from a new author. The book reminded me of a Sarah Dessen novel, who is one of my favorites, so I knew I would like it. I tore through OTL, reading the whole thing in one weekend. The book had me wanting to hop a plane down to Islamorada and get on a boat with Piper and the crew. I don't know much about fishing but defintely got into the descriptions of the fishing trips and was completely hooked by the competition. The love triangle between Piper, Benny and Logan was cute and I wasn't sure who I was rooting for until the end. I would defintely (and have!) recommend OTL to my friends.

On The Line was impossible to put down from the moment I started reading. The descriptions are so vivid that I was able to visualize myself with the characters and experiencing everything first hand. The writer's knowledge of local lifestyle and fishing is clear and makes the reading experience feel real. The story has a positive message that has you pulling for the main character, Piper. Definitely recommend it!!!

Piper has a lot "on the line". Unlike most girls her age, Piper at age sixteen isn't interested in clothing or makeup or boys; rather, she has her heart set on winning the $25,000 grand prize for catching the biggest bonefish in the annual Bonefish Scramble Tournament on the island of Islamorada in the Florida Keys.

Piper and her best friend Benny have been scouting out the prime fishing spots for months and logging the coordinates into her GPS. She wants to have every advantage for winning so that she can help her family by winning the $25,000. Piper's dad owns a charter fishing service. Tourism has been off since an oil spill scared people away from the Keys and money has been tight for all the residents.

While crewing on her dad's charter fishing boat, Piper meets Logan. Being from Michigan, Logan and his dad Nick don't know much about saltwater fishing. Logan lands one of the largest bonefish they've ever caught! When Logan befriends Piper and Logan's dad Nick begins to pal around with Piper's dad, Piper wonders whether she can trust either of them? There is too much "on the line" to risk.

Jackie Nastri Bardenwerper's book on the line has strongly defined, realistic characters, authentic dialogue, and an intriguing plot. The encounter with the bull shark is not to be missed! -School Library Media Specialist, Nancy W. Goss--Amity Middle School Orange, Orange, CT.
