Ainsworth is not a archaeologist which in my opinion discredits himself.

I was completely fascinated with the first three quarters of this well-written and beautifully illustrated book because I believe the Book of Mormon to be true but was a bit confused about where it all played out in the Americas.
No more - Jerry Ainsworth brought all that right down to earth - this man KNOWS what he is writing about - he has BEEN there - time and time again, walking in places where he has proven to me that Mormon and his son Moroni walked some 1400 years before the latter appeared again as a resurrected being in upstate New York to show young Joseph Smith where he had buried a sacred record of the early inhabitants of the Americas - a second witness, next to the Bible, of Jesus Christ who had appeared to them after his own death and resurrection in biblical lands.
But oh what a treat as I moved into the last part of the book and thrilled page after page, chills running through my body, as Ainsworth seemed to bring to life Mormon and his son Moroni, two ancient American prophets I had learned to love from my reading of the Book of Mormon, but hadn't really come to know as human beings like myself.
That has changed now. I recommend this wonderful book "The Lives and Travels of Mormon & Moroni" by Jerry L. Ainsworth, published by PeaceMakers Publishing, as an essential supplement to everyone who thinks he or she is familiar with The Book of Mormon and its people.

Both Mormon and Moroni have intrigued me ever since I first learned about them as a little child. I'm somewhat fimular with the Mayan culture and the ledgens in southern Utah so this book was very interesting to me. The first 150 or so pages lays the ground work in understanding the land and culture where Mormon and Moroni lived in 300-400 AD. The rest of the book gets in to the nitty gritty of exactly where Mormon & Moroni traveled. Much of this is infured from how the auther interpets scriptures in the Book of Moromn inconjuction with older maps. The book is very thought provoking and well written. Jerry did an excellant job researching, plus his many years of first hand experance gives him valuable insight on the subject, which he passes on to the reader. This is a good book for those who want a greater insight into the Nephite/Mayan nation that existed upon the Americas.

It may take some time for the process of academic peer review to elevate this book to the stature that it deserves, but I personally have little doubt that the publication of this book represents a seismic event in the study of both Mormonism and American History. If you have any doubts about the veracity of the Book of Mormon, reading this book will dispel them.

In this epic book, Dr. Ainsworth carefully documents numerous parallels between Mayan History/Culture and the stories of the Book of Mormon. He proves that the Book of Mormon does not come from "left field" as many religious scholars contend but rather from the actual history of the human race on the American continents.

The focus is on Central America during the millennium from 500BC - 500AD, where the Mayans (aka Nephites, Lamamites, etc.) built a civilization comparable to Rome, only to see it collapse and self-destruct during the "Great Apostasy," which followed Jesus' ministry in Central America by about 400-500 years.

Thanks to Dr. Ainsworth!

Great reference book. Some of the ideas expressed are a little far out there, but overall a very worthwhile read.

This book used the language of the scriptures to locate areas that could possibly be the homelands of the Nephites and the Lamanites. Of the books that I have read on the subject, this one makes the most sense to me.
