I came across this album quite by accident two years ago. Since then, I haven't traveled anywhere in my car without it. If you love old songs about trains, or if you love country string music - this cd is for you. It's gotten impossible to find lately so I recommend this as an addition to your bluegrass cd collection! Sam Bush and Stuart Duncan are just two of the many great artists featured in this collection and the production of the songs is awesome!

and that would be to change its nature by adding vocals on the songs which do have lyrics, preferably by great folk and country artists such as Cisco Houston, Eddie Arnold, Johnny Cash, Jimmie Rodgers, and their like. Of course, by some technical magic the late singers' vocal tracks would have to be stripped of the original accompaniment and laid down over the wonderful work of Sam Bush and his gang of five instrumentalists. For a country/folk/bluegrass record that abandons singing, however, this is superb. I found mine in a bargain bin, and anyone who reads this will likely have to buy a used copy via an Amazon-affiliated seller, but if you like mostly familiar and uptempo tunes played on fiddle, mandolin, banjo, guitar, dobro and bass, this one's for you. Great selections, fine arrangements and quality playing make this a real keeper.

Lonesome Whistle CD was the same CD as available under a different title on the racks in Crackerbarrell Restaurants. Seems to have been discontinued according to listings on their web site.
