This is a quick, easy read that I am sure runners and non-runners of all ages will love.
Michael DENNISUK
This book is about possibly one of the worst life lessons you can get...the loss of a friend.

Amazing and Uplifting story, but ge should have read his story a few times to perfect it.

Amazing and Uplifting story, but ge should have read his story a few times to perfect it. The story does get a bit choppy at some points. Being a cross country/distance runner. I found really motivating and inspiration.

The Longest Fall is a great running story suitable for young adults (I would recommend it for ages 13 and older, due to some themes). It is more than a story about a high school cross country team, it is about freindship and teamwork, and somewhat of a coming of age story. My son is a high school runner and I was drawn to this book since it was written by an alumni of the same high school where my son attends.

The title is just perfect...The Fall is Cross Country season for track. And, since training begins in the Summer, it is a long season. But the title hints at other meanings. The Atlantic team has a devastating season, and the team "falls." After a tragedy affects the team, one of the young men on the team "falls" as well.

What I really loved about this book was how well Mr. Krinsky captured the local color of his fictional town. The running routes, landmarks, and even the types of workouts and exercises the team partakes in all appear in the novel. These made the novel feel very realistic to me and knowing a little about high school track helped too.

For competitive runners, it's all here: striding, striving, struggles, competition, strategy, heartache, and redemption.

Amid grueling training and high hopes for a winning season, along with the untimely death of a fellow runner, "The Longest Fall" explores the full spectrum of the personal and sometimes lonely reality which is running.

A satisfying and well-written work!

I enjoy fictional/non-fictional running stories (Once a Runner, Running with the Buffaloes, and probably a dozen more), but unfortunately, this one was quite disappointing. I never felt anything for any of the characters. One of the things I enjoy about running books is that they put me out there, running the workout or competing in the race. This did none of that. The descriptions were rather flat and repetitive.
