Product Description

This officially licensed reproduction sword from The Lord of the Rings trilogy is Anduril, the sword of King Elessar of Gondor. Anduril was forged from the shards of the sword Narsil, carried by Aragorn, the heir to the throne of Gondor. Aragorn wielded Anduril against the forces of Sauron and assumed the name of Elessar once the final victory was won. This top quality replica measures 52 7/8-Inch in length and features a 40 5/8-Inch double tempered, AUS-6 stainless steel, false edged blade. The leather wrapped handle offers a solid metal cross guard and pommel with an antique silver plated finish and 24K gold plated fittings. Both the blade and pommel contain rune inscriptions in the Elven language of Quenya. This sword includes a wall plaque with silkscreen symbols of the Kingdom of Gondor and a parchment certificate of authenticity. This authentically detailed replica is a reproduction of the actual filming prop built by Weta Workshop of New Zealand and used in the motion picture trilogy, The Lord of The Rings. United Cutlery, industry leader in fine movie reproductions, has meticulously recreated the prop using only the finest grade materials and craftsmanship. Close attention to detail was a top priority. It is presented with a wood wall display and includes a certificate of authenticity.

I have been Lord of the Rings fan for sometime and I've always wanted to own this sword ever since I saw it on the big screen. Now after waiting many years I have finally been able to purchase it and add it to my sword collection. I would like to first say that this product is finely crafted. The attention to detail makes it feel and look like the legendary blade in the film. The detail from the elven ruins to the golden markings on the pummel are just beautiful. The blade's length is by far something to behold. The weight is something that you have to get use to. Since the handle was designed like a long sword or broad sword, the length of blade however is like great sword. Because of this the functionality of this sword isn't great.

I don't know how anyone could wield such weapon in battle for long, unless they had sturdy and strong arms. However since this piece was only really meant to be displayed on a wall and used for brief demonstrations it doesn't disappoint. It is truly a wondrous weapon, that begs your attention and makes you think about the many battles it was wielded in throughout the Lord of the Rings Trilogy. In conclusion I recommend this sword highly, it craftsmanship is superb and it will make great addition to any sword collector or better yet a great addition to any Lord of the Rings fan's collection.

Sword itself is ok, it's really, really big. Bigger than I anticipated, but that's not a flaw. The wooden plaque it came with is actually quite nice.

The sword itself isn't that great looking, but the looks itself aren't what drove me to give this 3 stars. The description claims this was crafted in Toledo, Spain. Unfortunately, the blade has a giant "MADE IN TAIWAN" engraved near the handle. Why would you engrave that anywhere on a sword like this?

I don't know what's worse, the fact that it was made in Taiwan (when clearly stated otherwise), or the fact that it's actually engraved on the blade.

If you order this expect long shipping, I understand this has to be ground shipped, but it arrived over a week later than expected.

When I was shopping for a sword that would help me reclaim my throne, I figured this was the sword for me. I was a bit surprised however, when it arrived in several pieces. I contacted the seller and the told me that it was likely a demigod figure of evil stepped on it.

That being said I, the guy who raised me like a father knew a thing or two about blacksmithing and put it back together for me. He even inscribed some totally metal looking runes on it! I think his daughter got the hots for me once she saw how good I looked carrying it.

Long story short, this thing totally helped me through some tough spots, from some mean looking dudes in a cave to a pretty cool battle at the Black Gate.

4/5 Stars because it had to be reforged.

The swords (I ordered two) came quickly.

The Bad:
Amazon said "Origin: Made in US" and the blades are etched "Made in Taiwan." I guess that side will face the wall when I mount it.

The good:
I wasn't sure how these would be packaged, but the packaging was quite nice. The swords (I bought two) were wrapped in plastic wrap and snugly fit in styraphome that slid into a movie themed box. All of that was in a plain cardboard box.

The swords
I bought these to look awesome. Well, they look awesome. They're impressive weapons. The blade, handle and cross piece look fantastic. The detail on the runes and on the handle look great. I really like the sewn leather piece on the handle.

"Aragorn threw back his cloak. The elven-sheath glitterred as he grasped it, and the bright blade of Anduril shone like a sudden flame as he swept it out. "Elendil!" he cried."I am Aragorn, son of Arathorn, and am called Elessar, the elfstone, Dunadan, the heir of Isildur Elendil's son of Gondor. Here is the Sword that was Broken and is forged again! Will you aid me or thwart me? Choose swiftly"

While it was brilliantly craft on the outside, the only thing keeping the upper and lower half of the pommel connected was a rather thin bar of concrete, rather than the traditional way of crafting the blade into the pommel. As a result, the concrete snapped, causing the lower half of the pommel to disconnect completely. I'm not necessarily complaining about that, but rather the fact that every tie i've tried to contact United cutlery about it, they've flat out ignored me. At one time, I even got a representative, and was able to tell him my situation, and he simply hung up. As for the sword, it still looks beautiful, even though it shipped in a tad scratched. It's hardly noticeable. The steel is resillient, the leather on the pommel holds well, and the blade is beautifully engraved. I would say that the problems I cae across probably aren't common, and they shouldn't disencourage you from buying this magnificent sword. A fair warning, though: The customer support was dreadful

This sword is amazing and very beautiful. It replicates the movie EXACTLY. It is much lighter and well weighted than you would expect a blade of its size to be. It seems to be very durable, and i found out how to dismantle it safely for repairs if needed. defenitely invest in this piece of movie art, you will not be let down.
