As a jazz listener weaned on 3 decades of Sarah Vaughan and other fine singers, I give 5 stars to this wonderful, extraordinarily sensitively rendered album by a singer unknown to me (and with few albums).

The songs are varied, each treated individually and with singular care, and performed really well. Kate Reid has a quite superb voice (and she knows how to use it), a cross between the great (underrated) adventurous Nancy King and with the tones of blander Diana Krall; she uses her horn like voice with care and a sultryness that is refreshing (-she has the duskyness of Coleen McNabb of "Don't Go to Strangers", another fine new singer but this album is superior).

Her musical partners do a fine job, supporting her voice delicately and never overwhelming the song. The songs themselves are well chosen, very reflective and have a great deal of swing/melody but the production is kept simple and slender. There is not a badly sung song in this assortment - 5 star quality throughout the CD. Overall a stunningly elegant album, far more mature an album than might ever be expected from a young singer, to be relished on a good hifi setup as the recording is also very well engineered (and even in the bath!). My dollar is down for her next album without question - she deserves the recognition of an award for this particular album.

It's a shame that someone with this much talent will remain
virtually unknown in the music field. The mediocre trash music
that is thrown up in our faces every day on TV and the media
is pathetic. But, it makes a ton of money with the kids.
I'm rambling......

This simply put is a fabulous, classy album that is seductive
and stimulating to the mind and body.
