My wife Stevie and I had a good marriage, but understanding the five love languages made it even better.  I wish every husband would read this book.

Like a couple of other reviewers I had read the original Five Love Languages. It is insightful and has helped me and my wife communicate much more effectively. If you haven't read that, then by all means buy this book. Unfortunately this book has hardly been changed from its original edition and I believe that there should be some sort of disclaimer. Luckily Amazon accepted the return (I purchased the Kindle edition) as I reported this to them within a day of purchase.

I previously purchased The 5 Love Languages and thought it was very good. Wanting to learn more, I read about the Men's Edition, expecting it to be different based on what the summary said. But the content is 99% the same as the original, not just the themes of the book but the actual words. I, and probably many others, was totally mislead by the write-up about it and wasted my money. Very disappointing. If you already purchased any of the similar books, do not waste your money on any of the others as they are all the same, as I found out the hard way.

I think many guys, myself included, are in a box when it comes to loving our wives. I did things my way but neither of us were happy, we stayed together for the kids. One night i decided that the problem must be me. I talked with my wife and told her i was going to change for her. The only thing was that i didn't know how to change. I went to the book store and found this book and read it and it made perfect sense and it was just too easy. I recommend you to read the book but only read it if you are willing to change, if you are not then you are wasting your time and no one can help you. YOU must be ready to give love and accept love.

... as the original. There are times when a book needs to have masculine packaging before some men will pick it up. I believe that is the idea here. So this is a book that you would purchase to give to that guy who could really benefit but would probably not care for the original cover, etc.

I think this is a cut and past copy of the original 5 Love Languages that was not edited well to translate the language over exclusively to men. Buy the original.

While much has been written about interpersonal communication, many of the existing writings stereotype females communicating with an emphasis on feelings and relationship and males communicating with an emphasis on status and tasks.

Are you feeling "under-loved" by someone important to you? Is someone important feeling under-loved by you? Perhaps you're communicating through different "languages".

Finally, someone (Gary Chapman) is recognizing that we all want to feel loved and suggesting that each of us might interpret "being loved" through different forms of communication--the five languages.

The Five Languages of Love is an intersting and thought-provoking read...comparably applicable to your significant-other, your family, friends and colleagues.

I found this book a little slow in the beginning. That said, it gets progressively more interesting as you get into the actual presentation of 5 love languages themselves. The author gives a number of simple methods for applying (or speaking) the languages. He gives some very detail "experiments" as well. So you can get very detailed if you like. I am pretty sure my wife's love language is either "acts of service" or "quality time". So I am going to start testing these out and see how it goes. So far it seems to be working well over the last 3 days. I just finished the book, and I am starting to get her attention. Long run, I am predicting a big change.

Just buy it and give it a try. You've really nothing to lose, especially if your relationship is struggling. If the relationship is great then why not build further. If you are not in a relationship you will need this later, and I think this could be adapted to nearly any relationship. The book is short. The advise is solid, and you'll be able make a positive impact on your wife. He is a Christian author, but he is not preachy (or weird) and there is no reason this advise would not work for anyone who wants a solid marriage.

This is a great book that every married couple should read. Even if you are dating get to know each other's love language.
