Most Helpful Customer Reviews

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful By Pamela Ditchoff on April 7, 2013
Format: Paperback
In The Love Monster, Missy Marston peels away layers of pain, disappointment, fear, and hope. She does so with such spot on honesty that you will laugh rather than cry. The main character, Margaret H. Atwood, is struggling with the realities of aging, hates her job, and her husband has left her for another woman. She lives a highly improbable life, psoriasis, aliens, a talking turtle to name a few. However, the author presents Margaret with a sense of sometimes disgusted honesty and sometimes brilliant honesty; the reader must chuckle, sigh, and cheer for her.

I love the style and presentation of this novel: short chapters with titles like the headline of a news column. My Office is A Litter Box. Don't Show Your Belly. I have not read another novel like this one, and I hope to read many more by Missy Marston. From one "quirky" author to another, congratulations and thanks for a marvelous read.
