I bought this book for some new ideas for my 6 and 4 year old's lunches for the upcoming school. I got one good idea. I would say 90% of the recipes are not really made for a kid's lunch box. If you are looking for good lunch ideas for the the home then by all means purchase it. If you are looking for ideas for an actual lunch box, save your money and google "lunch box ideas." If you have a picky eater, DO NOT BUY.

I am a college student and I am on a really tight budget, so I started packing my lunches. I bought this cookbook because i was drawing a blank on what i food i could pack that would taste good cold. As long as you have an insulated lunchbox and couple freeze packs, all these recipes are safe to eat. This book gave me great ideas on what i should pack for my lunch. I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to pack lunches for themselves or their children.

I didn't really like this because it's not really full of meals for kids, but more like an adult lunch cut into "fun" shapes. My kid's not dumb if I cut something she doesn't like into a star she's still not going to eat it. There were a few good ideas in the book that my daughter would probably eat but it wasn't worth buying the whole book for those few ideas. Your better off looking on Pintrest or Google. It got two stars for fast shipping.

I bought this book thinking it would help me find fun ways to get my 7 year old to eat her lunch at school; there are so many cute ideas for kids lunches. My 7 year old now looks forward to opening the book to a recipe and packing her own lunch. Unfortunately her eating habits have not changed much, but that has nothing to do with the book.

For a used book it was in exceptional condition and greatly priced, I would definitely buy from this seller and shipping was super fast as well.

AWESOME!!!!!!

This cookbook has lots of pictures and great recipie ideas. While some of them were obvious, I liked the new twists on classic lunchbox staples , that I hadn't considered packing for my daughter's lunch. I also like the tips for including your child in the linch making process and the healthy lunch suggestions.

I would say the best part about this book is the photographs. They do make the food look enticing. But, I think that the ingredient combinations are unrealistic for a not too picky child. (Let alone if yours would be considered picky.) Of course, you can adjust the ingredients to the child, but you might then be left with a weird or bland combination. Also, it ultimately cuts down on the number of items that you can actually use from the book.

Some of the "picky" substitutions seem be more on the picky no-no list than the thing they are replacing (lettuce) (e.g., a salad made with oranges, celery and white vinegar). I wonder if the author was working from her own children's "off limits" list. For instance, tomatoes, cucumber, mayonnaise, mustard are used frequently. These are more off limits in my house than lettuce.

Also, the author suggests combinations that look yummy when prepared, but may not stand up to the rigors of a lunchbox. For instance, sliced bananas and sliced apples. She doesn't address the extra preparation that might be involved (i.e., for apples) to make the cool open face sandwich not look nasty by noon. And, I am not even sure there is anything you can do for sliced bananas to keep them fresh. I wonder if she tested the recipes to see if they would be appealing 4-5 hours later.

All in all, it amounts to a cookbook that I won't be able to use much from. I was looking for something that would have mostly kid staples with a little bit that pushes the envelope to make me say "Aha! I hadn't thought of that before." But, mostly, I found myself saying, "That looks good for my lunch, but S wouldn't eat it.

This book has lots of grear ideas and recipes. It's great for not only kid's lunches but adult's too. The recipes are ones I would actually eat and a picky eater would eat too.
