Editorial Reviews

Review

"A perfect beach read about three ladies who meet three very different men at the lodge where they work. Owner Jamie is doing her best to keep the business going strong, and a documentary filmmaker could actually feature her lodge in a project, bringing untold publicity. Brooke's falling hard for Slick Billy Talbot, former baseball star. But will his playboy reputation predict a broken heart? Chef Leeza is instantly smitten with delicious real estate entrepreneur Matt, but he's come into town with lots of baggage. The story is fast paced and charming and I found myself rooting for each character to gain a happily ever after."
- V. Ardito, Amazon Review

"Love this new book by Mona Ingram. The characters are fun and realistic, and because of this you get caught up in the story. Before you know it, it's over! It's a lovely summer read and a great mini escape. Would definitely recommend!"
- Jessie Tout, Amazon Review

"Ms Ingram creates strong characters and an equally strong story where they can shine. This time it's times three with three women and three potentials beaus.
You will root for them to get together but there are some big obstacles in the way--if being married to someone else is considered a hindrance to true love."

- Lucy Dashwood, Amazon Review

From the Author

I grew up in northern British Columbia at a time when it was dotted with largely unexplored lakes. Much of this book is based on fact. There are thermal pools in northern B.C., many tourists fly into remote lakes to fish, and the scene where the heroine talks about collecting fossils is from my memory. The love stories are universal, but I enjoyed the challenge of weaving them together. I hope you enjoy reading.

3.0 out of 5 stars Too ambitious July 15, 2012
By ireneQ
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
The story is well-written in terms of language and grammar, but I felt that the author was too ambitious in making it a story about three separate couples. Because of this, everything moved too fast and was rather shallow. The idea of three women friends each finding their own man is great, but it would have been better if each had been given her own separate book. Nora Roberts has done this effectively in many of her books.

Going back to THE LURE OF LOVE... I read the opening scene in the sample and was captivated by it. I liked Jamie's character, her straight-forward manner and independence. But after the first chapter, things began to go downhill.

It was strange to have Jamie and Craig start opening up about very personal things right from the first day they meet (for example, Craig tells Jamie that his wife and son died in a plane crash two years ago, and that he drank heavily for a period of time after that). However, these things can happen if a couple feel a strong connection from the beginning, so I thought it was strange, but still okay. Then I read on and discovered that the same happened for Brooke and Billy, and Leeza and Matt. Brooke tells Billy that she is independently wealthy, and gives him all her family history. Really? Telling a total stranger that you have money? Not a good idea. Matt confides to Leeza that he's being investigated for fraud. That's definitely not something you would tell a lady on a first date! To have all three couples confiding really personal things to each other from the get-go is beyond believable. It usually takes time to build up that level of trust between two people.

As a result of this, everything felt way too rushed.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good But... August 23, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I really want to rate this closer to a 4 because I basically liked the story. The plot was both entertaining and well written. The issues I had were with a triple love story going on at one time. So much was unsaid and therefore unwritten missing a great opportunity for a sequel/series it felt so crammed/forced to get it all into one book moving more swiftly than I personally like. Due to the numerous relationships I was getting the names and characters mistaked with eachother and had to stop and think who was with who etc.... I found myself reflecting on how I would have expounded on this situaion or given that scenerio more depth. Overall I was able to read it in one sitting for a few hours of entertainment and would deffinately read more of this authors work. Hope this helps, Happy Reading and Enjoy.
