Rating & Review of Kindle Version Only
on May 2, 2011
The rating and this review relate specifically to the Kindle version of the MacArthur Daily Bible. Let me start by saying that the MacArthur Daily Bible is a great resource and I have very much enjoyed reading the print version. However, the Kindle version is very different from the print version, and is a huge disappointment.
Firstly, the Kindle version is very poorly organized. The Bible does not flow in the daily reading format of the print version. Essentially to read each passage section within each day you need to navigate back and forth between the passages and the Table of Contents. To explain, you cannot select next page on your Kindle after completing the first reading section of the day and expect to be taken to the next passage section for the day. Instead you are taken to the reading for the following day of that section (e.g. OT passage). In order to navigate to the next passage section for the day (e.g. Proverbs), navigate back to the TOC, select the next section and you will be taken there. A very painfully slow and frustrating way of navigating.
Secondly, the summary that appears at the end of each daily reading in the print version is completely missing from the Kindle version. This is one of the parts of the print version that I enjoy and is a huge disappointment that it is missing from the Kindle version.
I have long looked forward to the day that the Kindle version of the MacArthur Daily Bible would be available, but am very disappointed in what has been delivered. Unless you are willing to accept missing content and a very painfully implemented navigation system, I would recommend you avoid the Kindle version and stick with the outstanding print version.
****UPDATE Jan 31st 2012****
Based on the review by toddee62 I am revising my rating of this product. It now appears that the publisher has updated the Kindle version. It now contains links at the end of each passage that you can click on to navigate to the next passage for that day. It is so much easier to navigate using this updated version (no more navigating back and forth between the table of contents and the passage). I would now recommend the kindle version to anyone looking for an electronic version of this wonderful Daily Bible. Thank you to the publisher for updating the kindle version.
