This story was quite enjoyable. There were a number of editing glitches, however (spelling, grammar, etc), which can detract from the reading.

Lovely story. A quick read for those in between book stages. Found a few missing or misspelled words but it did not distract from the story.

4.0 out of 5 stars Short and Sweet August 3, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I really like mail order bride stories, and this one didn't disappoint. The only problem was that it was to short, and only because I really liked the whole concept of the quilt. It didn't disappoint though, so if your after a quick read that will warm your heart and put you in a pleasant mood, then give this book a go.

5.0 out of 5 stars Short but Sweet Historical Romance July 8, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
THE MAIL ORDER BRIDE'S QUILT by Leah Atwood was a short but sweet historical romance. I love reading stories about mail order brides going west to marry a stranger and live in a new area of America. They helped tame the west.

In this short (25 pg) story, Jenny decides to answer a "mail order bride ad" from a man named John. Jenny's father was killed during the civil war and her mother had remarried and tragedy stikes again, leaving her without a family.

I don't want to tell the story, it is very sweet and clean.

3.0 out of 5 stars Short and Sweet July 8, 2013

Enjoyed this short story, but, the term Ms. was NEVER EVER used in the time period the story was set in. It was invented in the 1970's. Watch a few old John Wayne westerns to see how women were addressed then. Good fun story just the same, hopefully the start of a new career.

What a lovely way to connect these characters in this wonderful short story. My only negative thought is there was more sadness in their lives than anyone deserves. Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Mail order brides are a fascinating part of our history.
I really enjoy stories of mail order brides. I know that happened often in the old west, women were scarce then, it's amazing how often things worked out.
