Format: Paperback
I found this book easy to follow and complete. This should be on anyone's reading list who wants to know about the class warfare now being waged against common Americans by the likes of the Koch brothers and others.

The passage regarding Lewis Powell was particularly chilling:

"In 1971, Lewis F Powell, jr. wrote an action plan on how to do it (transfer wealth from the middle class to the rich). Think of it as a corporate take-over of the American Dream."
Powell was an attorney and was eventually nominated to the Supreme Court by Nixon. "He was also on the board of directors of several corporations, most notably the tobacco company Philip Morris. He was upset about all the disturbing leftists, anti-establishment trends in America. He was particularly crazed by consumer advocates like Ralph Nader..."

Powell wrote a confidential memorandum for the US Chamber of Commerce with the title, "Attack on the Free Enterprise System." He called for a coordinated counterattack with the US COC as the means of funding and synchronization. The COC would go after university campuses --- a "staff of scholars (What a phrase?)" would counter intellectuals --- such as the well-funded efforts to disprove global warming by EXXON. The COC would set up think tanks to hire these intellectuals and get them booked into venues where they could talk about the virtues of unbridled capitalism; Paul Ryan, though a C student frat boy found a job in one of these singing the praises of the Koch Brothers and their ilk. Powell's lengthy memorandum described insisting on fair time, demanding "balanced university faculties, "evaluation of textbooks" and taking over the judiciary.

This book was written by two people who have dedicated their lives to keeping unions strong and fighting for the working class and collective bargaining. It is an uphill battle, especially with the 1% led by the billionaire Koch Brothers buying politicians and policy like so many pez coming out of a pez dispenser, and determined to destroy unions, collective bargaining, and the working class. This is an inspirational book and I was honored to have it autographed by both authors at the recent A.F.S.C.M.E convention.

Don't get taken. It's being reported......

"Lucrative compensation packages and the use of chartered jets by the departing head of the nation's biggest public-sector union are looming as key issues in a contentious election to fill his position later this month.
Gerald McEntee, president of the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees, traveled by chartered aircraft 18 times since the beginning of 2010, at a cost of about $325,000, according to internal union expense reports viewed by The Wall Street Journal." Charter Flights Shadow Union Election. as per Wall St. Journal [...]
