Not an easy read ..but I knew that before ordering. The amount of detail is enormous but it is a history so that is par for the course. Have not finished it yet but so far I would recommend it for the history.

Great read, not at all boring. Wish history had been written like this when I was in high school.

I knew what to expect when I purchased this book, but did it anyway. There is a veil over the history of Scotland which is pretty impenetrable. Clarkson makes his own guesses without much justification for challenging the old theories.
