From Publishers Weekly

Brown, author of the Navy Justice Series and a former U.S. Navy lawyer, has written a book destined to top Christian fiction lists. A rogue Indonesian general and his army of terrorists attack oil tankers in the Strait of Malacca in order to profit from oil futures and buy nuclear weapons to establish an Islamic superpower. Navy JAG officers Zack Brewer and Diane Colcernian race against the odds and a 24-hour deadline before nuclear attacks hit the United States. Departing from the sea of books barely better than soap opera romance and using the frantic pacing of suspense fiction, Brown glides flawlessly among global hotspots of terrorism--including the United States--and the book's principal settings in Singapore, Indonesia, and Malaysia. The plot surges headlong with energy; characters--from various cultures--are both believable and accessible; rich dialogue flows. A Bible-quoting evangelical Christian president in the war room is over the top, and while evangelical hot-button issues may please some readers and turn others off, Brown has penned another winner.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Book For All Occasions, July 4, 2010
This review is from: The Malacca Conspiracy (Paperback)
It's the Fourth of July, and rather fitting that I've just turned the final page of Don Brown's new geopolitical thriller, The Malacca Conspiracy, as the book has a decidedly patriotic feel. With our nation's capital, Washington, DC, as one-quarter of the exotic, landscape quartet along with the far-flung destinations of Singapore, Indonesia, and Malaysia, Mr. Brown has the reader traveling the globe without ever having to leave the comfort of her bedroom slippers.
And true to form, the rockets glare and the fireworks explode off each page of this novel leaving me satiated, but still wanting more. From reading all five of Mr. Brown's novels, I have discovered that he is the master of the plot, moving the story along seamlessly with grace and detail, and the skill of the masters of his time. He had me chomping at the bit to know what was going to happen next.
The book has something for everyone. With a flair for the dramatic and penchant for sniffing out percolating controversy, Don Brown keeps the reader on the edge of his seat. Gentleman readers will love the high-stakes action and the geopolitical implications. Although the author has a knack for seeing the future having predicted the 2008 shooting war between Russia and Georgia in his novel, Black Sea Affair, I hope his crystal ball is on the fritz this time around, and our country is safe from the any of his fictional fireworks.
As for the ladies, don't be fooled by political and military undertones. The author has brought back two popular characters from his first three books in The Navy Justice Series, Zack Brewer and Diane Colcernian, and the sexual tension between the two sizzles like the burgers and dogs on your grill. Happy 4th and enjoy this and all four other Don Brown novels.

5.0 out of 5 stars A great book!, July 11, 2010

This review is from: The Malacca Conspiracy (Paperback)
Don Brown's 5th book in the Navy Justice series is the best yet! A complex plot involving terrorism in the Malaccan Strait, combined with several sub-plots (including the ongoing romance between Zack and Dianne), makes for a thrilling page turner. You won't want to miss it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Another success for Don Brown, February 5, 2011

This review is from: The Malacca Conspiracy (Paperback)
As someone who loves reading Christian fiction, I also have a huge affinity for mystery. Don Brown's whole Navy Justice series has been fantastic! I was very excited when I found out the next link in the series had been added. The Malacca Conspiracy surpassed my expectations. While the huge cast of characters could be a bit confusing at times, the reader could still easily keep reading and get swallowed up by the action. This reader hopes that there is more to come!

More About the Author

BESTSELLING AUTHOR DON BROWN,a former US Navy JAG Officer who served in the Pentagon, and who now pens legal and military thrillers about the Navy, seems to have developed an uncanny track record for prognosticating future events in his novels.

In 2003, Don began writing TREASON, his first novel in the NAVY JUSTICE SERIES, chronicling the life and adventures of JAG officer ZACK BREWER. TREASON explored the dangers of radical Islamic infiltration in the United States Military. Don wrote the novel, in part as a warning to the public about those dangers. TREASON was released in 2005.

Then, on Thanksgiving Day of 2009, TREASON had rocketed to the number 1 bestselling novel for fiction on the prestigious Amazon.com bestselling list for fiction, where it remained for more than a week. Why? Because the novel had included a scene which depicted virtually the same scenario to occurred at Fort Hood, in which a radical Muslim member of the United States military opened fire indiscriminately at a US Military base, in furtherance of a radical political agenda.

In June of 2008, Zondervan released Don's fourth novel, BLACK SEA AFFAIR, which featured a shooting war between Georgia and Russia. Two months later, in August of 2008, war broke out between Russia and Georgia, in what has become known as the 2008 South Ossetia War. This marked the second time that one of Don's novels in fact predicted a future event.

In August of 2009, Don Brown completed the manuscript for fifth novel, MALACCA CONSPIRACY, a novel which began with oil tankers being attacked by radical Islamic terrorists as those tankers transited the strategic Strait of Malacca. In the novel, terrorists use speedboats full of explosives to attack tankers. Ten months later, in May of 2010, the Singaporean Navy issued terror warnings about oil tankers being targeted for attacks by terrorists in the Strait of Malacca, with explosive-laden dinghies and speedboats, the exact scenario laid out in Brown's novel. On May 26 of 2010, OnlineUniversities.com ranked Don's three novels of the NAVY JUSTICE SERIES -- TREASON, HOSTAGE and DEFIANCE -- among its list of "50 Best Legal Novels for Both Lawyers and Laymen." TREASON, HOSTAGE and DEFIANCE were rated 3,4 and 5 in the "Supsense" category among the list of 50.

In August of 2011, Zondervan released Don's sixth novel, THUNDER IN THE MORNING CALM, an explosive thriller about North Korea. THUNDER IN THE MORNING CALM examines the question -- "Did America leave men behind in North Korean Prison Camps some sixty years ago?" Will this, too, turn out to be prophetic?

DON BROWN served on active duty for five years in the Navy as a JAG officer, during which time he served as military prosecutor, a Special Assistant United States Attorney, and also won the New York City Bar Association Trial Advocacy Award for winning the trial advocacy championship at the United States Naval Justice School. DON BROWN remained on inactive reserve status with the Navy through 1999, rising to the rank of Lieutenant Commander. He currently lives in his native North Carolina.
