About the Author

I love everything Paranormal, especially Vampires and after seeing the TV show Moonlight, I was inspired to write my first novel "The Man of my Dreams." I am a big fan of Alex O'loughlin who was the lead on Moonlight and also love the concept behind Dexter, so my hero is kind of Mick St John meets Dexter! Although my books are a work of fiction, there is an element of realism too as a lot of material comes from my own life. Quite a few of my characters are based on real life people too.

I am now a stay at home mum of 4 but write every chance I get, whenever the kids let me! My passion is and always has been writing. Book 2 "Be Careful What You Wish For" and the third book in the series "The Chosen One" are both now available as well.

These characters are very close to my heart and I hope you will come to love them as much as I have.

More About the Author

A survivor of sexual abuse, I have recently written the true account of my childhood, titled: Life After Hell: Surviving Sexual Abuse. I have tried to convey what happened to me as well as my journey to finally getting justice.

A lot of my own experiences have gone into my fictional works, especially my first book The Man of My Dreams. I created a vigilante vampire that rescues women and children from rapists and child molesters......

I've loved Vampires and the paranormal ever since I can remember and always envisaged myself writing a book or two on the subject! These characters that I have created are very close to my heart and I hope you will come to love them as much as I have.

Decided to try this author/story when it was available as a free download. I would have rated it as 4 stars up until the end. Although I agree with another reviewer that the writing was a bit amateurish/fan fiction-ish (and the formatting errors in my copy took away from smooth reading flow), I was quickly drawn in by the story, as well as the twist on the traditional vampire lore. Unfortunately, there were too many critical points either glossed over (um, the "gift"?) or ignored, especially at the end, which dropped my rating to 3 stars.

I realize that the author contemplated a sequel (thus, the cliffhanger) but still, the end scene seemed rushed, poorly thought out, and defied the normal suspension of disbelief for fiction. Likeable enough as a free read but given the plethora of vampire fiction, not enough to pay to see if this particular author's writing/story gets any better.

ADDED 09-09-2012: To clarify, I don't generally mind a cliffhanger in preparation of the next book (setting the stage, if you will), but it bothers me as a reader when not properly done and/or it adversely affects the current book. Yes, books in a series are generally linked together in some way or have a common arc, but the discrete plot/arc of each book usually should be resolved by the end (sort of like finishing the framework of a house before moving on to the sheetrock, plumbing, etc).

The way this book ended, the "cliffhanger" was for this story (which I took as how/why Cassie and and her dream man get together), not for the next (which, based on the blurb, appears to be how their relationship develops within an expanded storyline).

Cassie led a very hard life growing up her parents divorced when she was young and her mother remarried a madman. A man who did very bad things to such an innocent child. But one day she was rescued by someone, a mysterious stranger who came out of no where, and after waking up in the hospital she remembered nothing of the horror she had been through. Both her mother and father sat at her side when she awoke, and after realizing she remembered nothing vowed to attempt to rekindle the flame they both new was still there and allow their daughter to grow up in a happy loving family.

Cassie was able to continue on with her life never remembering the horror she experienced, and had both her parents love and support every single day. Until that fateful day when she was seventeen and a drunk driver ran into there car head on, killing her mother and father, leaving her an orphan. She grew from this knowing she wanted to help others so she became a nurse at the very hospital she was taken to. She greatly enjoyed her job, even though the trusts her parents left her meant she didn't need to work a day if she didn't want to. Being happy and wealthy the only other thing she truly wanted was a family of her own.

Cassie thought she had found the perfect man that she would spend the rest of her life with, but suddenly after over six years together he up and left. She was so distraught until He showed up, the mystery man that had saved her after the accident. He has appeared to her before when she was sleeping and it she'd that he still was. He appeared to have a deep love for her and she felt the same about him. One night they shared a very passionate very intimate event that left her with his seed.

The Man of My Dreams follows Cassie, a girl that dreams of her savior, or she thinks she's dreaming. It turns out that what she thinks are dreams may be more real then they seem.

In all honesty, it's a bit difficult for me to lay out a summary of this novel as there are so many things the story bounces between as you're reading. One minute Cassie is having sexy dreams and the next minute a serial killer is planning his next move. For a good portion of the book I didn't truly understand how the two seperate stories fit together. It's almost as if the author got so caught up in their attempt to surprise the reader that they may have left a little too much out to begin with.

Besides the jumpyness of the storyline, there seemed to be a lot of missing time in between chapters. One chapter would end and the next one would pick up in a completely different spot that didn't always make sense right away. I understand the need to jump when the story was breaking to a different narrator, as some chapters did, but I felt there was a void between some chapters that followed the same portion of the storyline.

My biggest qualm with this novel was the fact that it didn't seem to have a lot of depth. The characters were a bit shallow, the scenes were a bit vague, and I was left with an overall feeling of wanting more. The storyline itself wasn't bad. I feel it had a lot of potential going into the book. However, the delivery just didn't fulfill me.

First off, I would like to say that I am not usually a big fan of books that have rape and molestation in them. I will say that this book does not dwell on the subject and the scenes are brief. On to a better note, I love the concept of a hero vampire. I’m not sure how I would take to having someone enter my dreams and having it feel so real. I found that I feel for Cassie and all the struggles she goes through. The uncertainty and questioning her sanity is not an easy thing to cope with.
