I'm no baseball historian, but the stories these guys put together are very entertaining and seem well researched. The story of 'the man who stole first base' is delightful, as are most of the others. Good photos too. Well worth having on the bookshelf to pull out on a summer evening....

If you like baseball and baseball books, you will like this one. Great history of obscure baseball facts. Reading it is like eating popcorn to the baseball junkie. Some of it is a little dated (1989), but for most of the stories, it does not make any difference.

Wonderful stories that exist within the world of baseball; it's players and the wonderful world of baseball history. Unique and special events that many fans never knew; about individuals and teams that have shaped the history and growth of the game.

This is a 2nd copy of this book for me, written in part by someone near and dear to me. Excellent writing and both fun, and interesting, even for the baseball novice. It arrived quickly and is in excellent condition.

For the pure baseball fan, this book is a must have. It tells short stories about players who used their heads to create new strategies, and it explains how some of the rules today were made. Besides laughing your head off, you really learn a lot about the great game of baseball.
