A great blast from the past - love the clothes, the 70's references, and most of all the music.

Life on Mars combines sci-fi, pop culture and a touch of comedy into an enjoyable experience. Sadly, it never caught on and was axed by ABC after only one season.

Unlike many other shows branded "sci-fi", Life on Mars is targeted to a mainstream audience - not to geeks (no offense intended) who plan their vacations around Star Trek conventions. If you want a lighter, less bloody show along the lines of "Law and Order" or "CSI", this is right up yor alley.

The pop culture/historical perspective of the show is especially good: Keeping in mind it is set in 1973, the one token female officer in the station is nicknamed "no nuts" by the other detectives. Although tasteless and offensive by today's standards, it shows how things were back in the day. Sam is the only one to recognize her true ability.

A lot of the humor comes from Sam having to hold his tounge (or sometimes slipping up) on how things are (or will be) in 2009. As an example (without totally spoiling the surprise), the episode in which Whoppi Goldberg guest stars has Sam quoting the future on rap music in a hilarious way.

I have most of the episodes on TiVo already. Although it's worth the paid price, I hope this is added to the free Prime Membership viewing at some point.

DO NOT read anything about this show until after you watch it. You will ruin the experience if you do. Trust me. Just watch it. Go. Now. Do not stop. Especially if you are 50 or older. Trust me.

This was a very good episode. It had all the requirement of suspense, mystery and logical outcomes. It helped to explain, somewhat, why this fellow was in this situation and gave him the possibility of escaping from it at least eventually. I enjoyed the series and was disappointed when they decided to end it so quickly.

I really enjoyed this show and wish they would have continued it. I especially like Jason O'mara and usually follow every show he is in. This show is very entertaining and was not on long enough.

I like plot twists. I'll say no more because I do not wish to spoil it for others. Watch it ALL.

This show should still be on T.V. it was amazing. Stupid shows get renewed over and over but great shows like Life On Mars and The Event get canceled after one season! Its insane. But the U.K. version was better. But this version was great as well.

Jason O'Mara is a great actor (he's fantastic as serial killer Bill Croelick on the closer), and he is quite good on Life On Mars. It took me a couple of episodes to really get into it, but it soon gains speed and it's definitely a fun ride. The supporting actors are really good, and they all have chemistry together that keeps the dialog believable and sharp. I really like it!
