Editorial Reviews

Amazon.com Review

In this book, Trevor Ravenscroft weaves an enigmatic web connecting such disparate events as the carving of a pillar for a Scottish cathedral, Druidic teaching methods, and the detonation of the first atomic bomb. At the center of his web is the spear that pierced the side of Christ. The Mark of the Beast continues the story Ravenscroft began in The Spear of Destiny to reveal the innate power of this pivotal artifact. This literate and thoroughly researched book is Ravenscroft's final work, and devotees of his previous books will want to get their hands on this one.

A continuation, if you agree, of the outstanding book "The Spear of Destiny" by the same author. I enjoyed both books as a wonderful insight into our tormented history, religious, political or otherwise.
I recommend this book for the open-minded individual interested in history and in spiritual or religious information, sometimes distorted by our great religions. I found the book fascinating ... but definitely would not recommend it for the narrow-minded individual or individuals with deep-set and inflexible religious beliefs.

As a historian and member of a number of organisation mentioned in this book I feel I must warn potential readers, this and the Spear of Destiny are dross. I only wish I could give book a minus.

I am familiar with Mr. Ravenscroft's work and believe that he is truly at the top of his form. If the subject interests you, do read his earlier work, and please take a look at The Spear of Golgotha, Richard Greenwald, a fictionalized delve into familiar territory. Five stars for Ravenscroft.

The Mark of the Beast, is hard to follow. Quite a few steps back from Trevor Ravencroft's stellar work, The Spear of Destiny. Trevor and his pseudo co-author try to rehash much of the content in fragments from The Spear, throughout. To its credit, the book does tell us how to discover for ourselves our enate spirituality, as regards the Christ vs. the antichrist. As with The Sear, there is much information to assimilate, and it is not an easy read for anyone new to this apocalyptic, albeit educated and well-researched collection of theories, facts, and predictions. Still, if you are a fan of Trevor Ravencroft, you might want add this book to collection, since it was Ravencroft's second and last endeavor, before he passed on, perhaps to meet Dr. Johannes Walter Stein on the other side of midnight.
