Editorial Reviews

Review

"This book is more than a 'how-to' guide. It explores the fundamentals of how marketing has changed in the digital era - and how to master one of the key platforms for building credibility and new business with a thriving community.  I will use it as a desktop reference."

- Jeremiah Owyang, Partner, Altimeter Group

"In The Marketer's Guide to SlideShare, Todd Wheatland unlocks the mysteries of the most important (yet curiously underrated) element of any decentralized, digital dandelion strategy. This is a timely and important book. A must-read for marketers, especially B2B."

- Jay Baer, social media strategist, co-author of The NOW Revolution

"SlideShare has been my secret weapon for turning presentations into online marketing. Well, my free ride is over now that Todd Wheatland has literally written 'the book' on SlideShare. Get The Marketer's Guide to SlideShare and master it before your competition does."

- Lee Odden, CEO, TopRank Online Marketing, author of Optimize

"SlideShare is the largest content-sharing platform, but there's never been a user guide - until now. This books is required reading for any business looking to succeed in the era of content marketing, and to fuel their success on SlideShare. I cannot recommend it highly enough."

- Ross Mayfield, VP & Board Observer, SlideShare

The Marketers Guide to Slideshare is 2 books in 1:

It's a strategic guide designed to help CMO's and marketing leaders understand and harness the power of Slideshare. It's also a tactical and practical tutorial on the best ways to do everything from setting up your account to designing the background image and even Zipcasting. (Don't know what it is? Todd tells you all about it.)

Full of wonderfully illustrative examples - like a Chevy dealer who sold trucks using Slideshare or IBM who's heavily branded channel is a site to see - Todd helps anyone dive into mastering one channel to help generate leads and deliver results (he has a great section about what to measure.)

Todd's book will open your eyes to the possibilities on Slideshare. If you're nervous about wading into social media - this book (and Slideshare) is a great first step.

If you're a social media guru, chances are you haven't tapped the full potential of Slideshare - and if not - it's time to learn from a pro. Todd Wheatland delivers!
Thanks for a great read and the inspiration to get it done on Slideshare!

I've rarely been as impressed with the power of a book to make a major change in my marketing success as I was by Todd Wheatland's The Marketer's Guide to SlideShare.

I started to read The Marketer's Guide to SlideShare at noon, last Saturday. I started with absolutely no knowledge or previous experience with SlideShare.

By mid-evening, Saturday, working with Todd's book propped open next to my monitor, I'd created a new PowerPoint presentation, signed-up at SlideShare, uploaded my presentation, and was able to view it online!

Within a few moments, it was attracting viewers.

Within another half hour, I painlessly embedded my SlideShare presentation into my Published and Profitable blog...and had created a "wish list" list of future presentation projects.

Where Todd's book succeeds, and so many other marketing and how-to books fall short, is--on every page--he balances the "what's" and the "whys" of marketing success with the "how's" and the "whens" of working with SlideShare.

- For example, he doesn't assume you already know some of the ways to use SlideShare as a marketing tool, he provides detailed examples for different marketing goals, i.e., search engine visibility, lead generation, promotions, etc.

- Todd doesn't just walk you through the process of creating a SlideShare presentation title and description, he explains the best practices of titles and presentation descriptions, so you do a better job it.

- At every step, he doesn't just tell you the "facts," or "what to do here," he explains your options and interprets your alternatives, advising from a marketing point of view.

It's almost a cliche to read, "It's like working with an expert by your side!

While this book does have some useful information about the various ways to use Slideshare and Slideshare Pro to get found on search engines, etc., it doesn't give you the step-by-step instructions as to how to use the features it touts. I also found that some of the information is dated, as some of the tools that were available at the time it was published, have now been changed.

It also lacks a table of contents at the end, that one often finds useful to quickly access a specific topic or keyword. Instead it has a list of the chapter headings, which is too time consuming to hunt through to see if the chapter actually contains the specific information you're looking for.

I'm nearly as confused now as I was when I read the book.

I had been struggling with Slideshare for the past year or so. I figured it should be useful, but really didn't understand its power as a B2B marketing and social media tool. Thanks to this book I finally get it and can persuade my colleagues that we should be using it more effectively.

I have a SlideShare Pro account and after reading this book I now know how to really take advantage of all the benefits available to me. SlideShare takes the concept of "be everywhere" to the next level and this book is the only resource available that shows you how to do just that!

Todd Wheatland's book "The Marketer's Guide To Slideshare" is one every marketing professional should have in there hands! I have wanted to dive deeper into Slideshare, but like many others, have not made the time to really learn and understand the power of this content platform. I guess I was waiting for someone to write the book on it. And Todd has done that! Thank you, Todd, for breaking down the why and how to importance of using Slideshare for business. You've not only made me a believer, but I am excited to take my Slideshare usage and experience to the next level because of your book. Excellent work!
