5.0 out of 5 stars Most of Us are Called to the Lay Apostolate, September 15, 2009
This review is from: The Lay Members of Christ's Faithful People (Paperback)
Sometimes, it feels as though this incredible doucument had never been written. Its clear guidance on the laity's role in the world is timely & desperately needed: "The inviolability of the person which is a reflection of the absolute inviolability of God finds its primary and fundamental expression in the inviolability of human life. Above all, the common outcry, which is justly made on behalf of human rights -- for example, the right to health, to home, to work, to family, to culture -- is false and illusory if the right to life, the most basic and fundamental right and the condition for all other personal rights, is not defended with maximum determination....The human being is entitled to such rights, in every phase of development, from conception until natural death; and in every condition, whether healthy or sick, whole or handicapped, rich or poor" (38).

5.0 out of 5 stars We need good Catholic millionaires..., December 31, 2013
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: The Lay Members of Christ's Faithful People (Paperback)
This document by Pope John Paul II, an important read for every lay Catholic, shows us that we need good Catholic Christian millionaires, we need good Catholic Christian doctors, lawyers, news reporters, news editors, marketing specialists...if Catholics were out there BEING Catholic in their jobs, our society wouldn't be in the sore state it is in. Lay Catholics are "on the front lines" of the battle for souls...and God wants to use us so that His Kingdom comes, His will be done. When we stand up for the Lord's will when faced with decisions at work, in meetings, in our neighborhoods, etc., moral living stands strong. When we cave in or stay quiet waiting for someone else to do or say the right thing, we allow the downward spiral of morality to continue downward. This document is awesome. It also shows that unless we live our lay vocation, we won't spawn vocations to the priesthood and religious life. Over ninety percent of all Catholics are part of the lay faithful and should read this document to understand their extremely important role in the Church.
