The Memory of You

Winner of Romance Writers of America® Golden Heart® Award

"A heart-warming tale of love and second chances. I thoroughly enjoyed this book!” Joy Nash, USA Today best-selling author of The Unforgiven and A Little Light Magic

“A poignant and sensual read filled with great characters you’ll fall in love with.” Hope Ramsay, best-selling author of Welcome to Last Chance

She can’t forget him—He can’t remember her
Together, they must discover the healing power of unforgettable love

The day Lieutenant Matthew Foster departed for his so-called ‘tour’ in Vietnam, he never expected a sudden change in his itinerary would include an extended stay in the horrific Hanoi Hilton. Six years later, he’s finally released with the other POWs during Operation Homecoming. Unfortunately, his memories before his capture were erased by the complimentary torture provided by the hotel’s concierge. Due to prior facial injuries and the beard concealing his gauntness, he looks nothing like the boyish photo in his military file.

When the Army informs Matt he has a wife and he was mistakenly declared dead, he’s sure Abby must have made a new life for herself. He doubts the bitter man he’s become can salvage the boy she once cared for, so to be fair to her, he decides to simply write a note to wish her well and leave. But before he does, he can’t resist going to Redemption, PA, to catch a glimpse of the woman he’d loved enough to marry.

The irony of the small town’s name is totally eclipsed by Matt’s dread that he’ll discover he’s lost something truly worth remembering. That fear becomes reality when he learns Abby is engaged, and he’s a daddy! Luckily, his wife doesn’t recognize him, so Matt could still walk away from the beautiful stranger who’s been starring in his X-rated dreams. However, he could never, ever abandon his sons.

The clock is ticking. Any day, the military will inform Abby he’s alive, and her wedding is in only six weeks. It doesn’t give Matt much time to discover if he can reclaim the love the war stole from him.

5.0 out of 5 stars A funny, poignant, sexy read. February 9, 2012
By PJD
Format:Kindle Edition
This is a great book. For those of us who remember Operation Homecoming, it's a reminder of what our brave veterans endured without hitting us over the head with it. Funny in some places, heart-rending in others, it certainly celebrates the idea that love can, indeed, conquer all.

This book is entertaining and sweet. Set in a by-gone era, it evokes emotion that spans the decades and becomes relatable in our current post-war transition. A book you just sail through and finish wishing for more!

5.0 out of 5 stars The Perfect Romantic Story February 17, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
No wonder "The Memory of You" won the Golden Heart award.
Once I began to read this wonderful story of a returning Vietnam POW who returns home to find his wife
recently engaged to another man, I could not put it down. Ms. Kellogg really captures the male point of view--a
nice guy who just wants to do the right thing for his six year old sons, yet finds himself falling back in love with his
wife as he struggles to reclaim his memory. Oh, yeah, Mac returns home with a really bad case of amnesia.
If you like to read a fully fleshed out love story, this is your ticket. This author does a great job of moving
the story forward while also showing us the past--how Abby and Mac met and fell in love and were so perfect
for each other--before the Vietnam War pulled them apart.
My recommendation--if you have any doubts as to whether this story is for you--order the free sample--by

5.0 out of 5 stars The Memory of You February 14, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
The very idea of a book that is set in the stormy times following the Vietnam war is both heart warming and heart wrenching for me. That idea of nostalgia got me from the first. Add to it Kellogg's strong writing and depth of emotion, and it's a recipe for great appeal. Kudos to Laurie Kellogg with "The Memory of You".

5.0 out of 5 stars Pulled an all nighter to finish this book! March 9, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I purchased this book on the recommendation of a friend. I've since talked two of my friends into buying it as well :) I just couldn't put this book down, and although I had to be up at 6:30 the next morning for work, I stayed up until 4:45 a.m. to finish the book. Very compelling. Wonderful and touching story. Well written and very moving characters. When is the next book in the series out? I was actually disappointed at the end when there was a teaser for a book from another series. I want the author to spend all of her time writing the rest of THIS series! The only hiccup in the read was the intrusion of reality when I ran into the occasional grammatical error or misspelled word. There weren't many, but it tends to jolt me out of the story when I run into errors and need to step out of the story and figure out what word really belonged in that sentence! I can't wait for the next book. Hurry up!

This is one of those books you can lose your weekend in. I didn't want to put it down.
It's poignant, funny in spots, gut-wrenching in others.
And, it looks like there could be more coming. Can't wait!
