"The Michael Scott Paper Company" featuring Michael Scott,
By
This review is from: The Office Season 5 (Amazon Instant Video)
In the second episode of The Office this week, "The Michael Scott Paper Company," Michael's paper company isn't doing too well. Michael, Pam and Ryan are having trouble adjusting to their new roles and their new space. Pam gets so frustrated that she tracks down Charles at D-M and asks for her old job back. When she finds out that it's already been filled, she begs Charles for another -as long as its back at D-M. Charles turns her away with nothing.
Back at D-M, the new receptionist, Kelly, has already caught the eye of two of the company's most eligible bachelors -Andy and Dwight. It doesn't take long for the two to start wooing the pretty Pam-replacement and, interestingly enough, start to become friends. In the meantime Jim's having trouble adjusting to Charles's style of management-primarily because it requires him to do actual hard work. It seems to me like he's closer and closer to leaving D-M for the M S paper co. every minute. In order to get potential customers interested in the new company, Michael decides to throw a pancake lunch, but things don't quite turn out like he was hoping when only a handful of people show up. Things seem pretty bleak at the Michael Scott Paper Company, until a pancake lunch hopeful calls in and Pam makes her first sale. While "The Michael Scott Paper Company" had some humor in it, it wasn't quite as funny as "Dream Team," and was more about plot than anything. The viewers were really able to dig into the new situation on The Office and get a good re-introduction to Ryan's character. Overall entertaining, but I'm still not sure if I like this new division between the Dunder-Mifflin-ites and members of the Michael Scott Paper Company. I'm curious how they're going to keep handling this new format -and if it'll continue for long.
