More About the Author

About the United Church of God
The literature provided is published by the United Church of God, an International Association, which has ministers and local congregations in the United States and many countries around the world. We trace our origins to the Church that Jesus founded in the early first century. We follow the same teachings, doctrines and practices established then. Our commission is to proclaim the gospel of the coming Kingdom of God to all the world as a witness and teach all nations to observe what Christ commanded (Matthew 24:14; 28:19, 20).

Vision Statement
A Church led by God's Holy Spirit, joined and knit together by what every member supplies, with all doing their share and growing in love to fulfill God's great purpose for humanity to bring many children to glory (Ephesians 4:16; Hebrews 2:10).

Mission Statement
The mission of the Church of God is to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and the Kingdom of God in all the world, make disciples in all nations and care for those disciples.

This publication was produced by a group associated with the teachings of Herbert Armstrong. Groups associated with Armstrongism include Restored Church of God, United Church of God, Philadelphia Church of God, and Living Church of God.

I was a member of an Armstrongite group for over ten years as a young Christian, so I am intimately familiar with their teachings. I am now attending an EFCA (Evangelical Free Churches of America) congregation.

Armstrongites should be considered a cult, and should be avoided. The two major reasons why they should be considered a cult are their “God family” doctrine and their “true church” or exclusivist position.

Their “God family” doctrine teaches that the redeemed become fully God in the resurrection, and will join the Godhead. In other words, there will be no difference between the redeemed, God the Father and Jesus Christ in terms of nature. They deny the personhood of the Holy Spirit.

Salvation, to them, is about proving themselves trustworthy to be given the full powers of Godhood. They are qualifying to rule as a God, ultimately over their own planet. They are Gods in embryonic form, to be "born again" at the resurrection. This view is very similar to Mormonism.

They deny the Christian doctrine of the Trinity, declaring it to be pagan. The reality is that their view is polytheistic, and thus pagan, as they assert that there are two separate god beings, God the Father and Jesus Christ. It is also a blasphemous view, as God is unique, uncreated, and alone worthy of worship. Claiming that the redeemed will join the Godhead is blasphemous. The redeemed reflect the character of God like a mirror reflects light, but they will never be the Light; only a mirror.

I don't want to sound prejudice but am not convinced by many of the writings and interpretation of prophecies as set out. I have read numerous books on Mid East but this one sounds like those teachings of Jehovah Witnesses who claim that YHWH is too good to send anyone to Hell.....Saying that Jesus Millennium Rule will comprise unconverted Muslims, Jews and Christians is neither here nor there .

Lately, I was anxious to know to which race I belong, so I was interested in purchasing this book and researching other articles. I am proud to know my origin now. Thank you for publishing this book. I have new perspective on now and then. Thank God.

It really did a good job for the first 70 pages. But then got into the UCG's particular doctrines (like the revived Roman Empire and British-Israelitism that just did not fit the verses given and advertising for dozens of other UCG books.
