As a millennial on the brink of college graduation, this seemed like a perfect read--I know that financial security and stability in the coming years are going to be difficult for those of us in the new economy, and I wanted to see what tips Shin had. It's a must buy. Shin picks out key principals of money saving and career success that will pay dividends if employed over the course of our lifetimes, can't afford to miss out on this.

This book isn't going to give you anything groundbreaking. Honestly, the best part of the book was the inspirational stories about young people who got ahead--the actual advice in the book is generic. The book has a specific chapter on dealing with online distractions though, which I found helpful and finally something specifically targeted at Millennials.

Shin has written intelligently, and artfully, about personal finance for Forbes for some time now, and I am an avid follower. The Millennial Game Plan is a clear and wise book, which I definitely could have used in my 20s. Developing a plan early is becoming evermore important. Excellent read.

The book was referenced in a news article about a young couple who retired at 40 so I bought it thinking it was more about finances and investments. There are only a few section about money and they are still good sound advice
Other good advice is on time wasters and dealing with distractions.
The book is worth the read but I'd knock off another $1 from the price.

Sound, solid, sage advice. Read it, apply it, recommend it, then read it again. Keep it simple and stay the course. Now get on with it.

I follow Laura Shin on Forbes and read all her articles -- her insight is savvy and wise, and dispensed with heart. I'm not a millennial but found this book extremely powerful. I especially loved her chapter "How to focus in an age of distraction". Extremely pertinent in this hyper-connected, always on, world.

So many words of wisdom! It's truly great advice for just about anyone, not just millenials. Read it, remember it, put it into practice.

The feel-good "Do what you love and the money will follow" has made a few people rich and probably bankrupted a lot more. Laura Shin dispenses with that, encouraging young people to pursue a far wiser course: figure out what you can do that people will pay for, and make yourself really good at it. She explains how. Don't miss this book.
