I live in Chicago and saw the author on our local Windy City Live TV show (there's a video clip on another review). I was intrigued since I'm overweight because of my love of sugar. I love to cook/bake, so the cookbook idea as appealing. I was a bit hesitant to buy it, because I couldn't see a Table of Contents or what recipes were included, which is unusual in my Amazon buying experience. (I see that those are now available on the site). But because of the author's passion and my search for a way to cut down on my sugar intake, I ordered the cookbook and some mberry tablets.

I got the cookbook and as some other reviewers have noted, I was very disappointed to see that in a lot of the recipes, the calorie count is reduced by only 24-28 calories per serving. And the recipes use a LOT of cream, butter, eggs, agave sweetener and white flour. So don't buy this book thinking it's a diet cookbook. It's really not. I also find it interesting that he gives how many calories are saved by using his recipes and mberries, but he does NOT give the nutritional details on any recipe. That's surprising for a "diet cookbook". My guess is that the calorie and fat counts are still so high, he doesn't want to shock you.

If I had it to do over again, I would not have bought this book. I feel like I was foolish to fall for another "fad" diet idea when my common sense was telling me it was too good to be true. I should have listened to my common sense.

The book is well written and well produced. The topic is fascinating. So I was overall pleased with the purchase. After reading it and trying some recipes, I found there was a basic problem for me in this whole concept. The berry changes the flavor of almost everything! Just as promoted. I normally have several items in each meal, some of which I like just fine the way I have been cooking them for years. The berry alters their flavors, too, of course, which means I end up unhappy with the meal I just cooked! Thus, the berry recipes for dessert are the only ones I would use, eating those low-sugar dessert dishes AFTER the meal when they are the only item affected by the berry powder. Otherwise, all items on the meal menu must be modified before taking the berry. I should add, that although many of the recipes were good tasting, and I was even able to make my own changes effectively, e.g., for baked-beans, a few did not work well for me, like simply eating sour cream "under the influence". That may just be a personal thing. You may be different. On the other hand It does spiff up yogurt flavor, without adding sugar. It is a great party trick. People are amazed!

I join those disappointed in this book. While it notes the number of sugar calories saved, there's no mention of the actual calorie counts of the recipes. Many of the recipes interested me, however, ingredients such as heavy cream are particularly high in calories. I still may try recipes to see how well substitute ingredients such as low fat evaporated milk, or half and half work.

At first I was rather skeptical about getting this book and making desserts without sugar, but the results were actually really good!

I love to bake at home, but the result of that has caused me to have to be really careful about how much I eat and I know a lot of people with diabetes who I can't share my hard work with.
I've tried other books with no-sugar cookies and cakes, but those were always bland and tasteless - But These Recipes Work!

Try it out! Make sure to order some of the mberry tablets at the same time, and you'll be surprised how well the recipes work. Even if you're not a diabetic, taking these recipes and omitting sugar from a simple chocolate ice cream recipes can save you 152 Calories Per Serving! Insane! But Delicious! :)

P.S. The carrot cake whoopie pie is to Die For.

Miracle Berry? many think this product is a trick or a hoax, but what I have found is that this little berry is an untapped ingredient that can help the world in so many ways. The Miracle Berry Diet Cookbook unravels this new ingredient and refreshingly gives us recipes that actually work.

You have to order the berry pills. And it taste like a dried berry chewable, and believe me everything that you eat and taste is magnified. My family and I love using the pills and its really fun. So don't mock it until you try it!

It has some good recipes, even if you don't use the miracle berry and make a little adjustment. I found the berries expensive and a bit too sweet for my taste.

I was really excited to come across the miracle berry and Homaro Cantu, so tragic that he took his life.
I was disappointed with the book because most of the dessert recipes include sweeteners, like honey or agave. And it is well know those spike blood sugar levels just like white sugar. So while I believed I would be able to prepare healthy desserts with the aid of the miracle berry the reality is I'll have to come up with my own recipes to make it work. I made a cheesecake, with an almond meal crust and put in about 1/4 cup of lemon juice and no sweetener and then enjoyed it with the miracle berries and fresh strawberries. So, the book will give you some direction to understand how the berry works but to make it really healthy the recipes need tweaking.
