Book Description

The Mission follows a group of mercenaries as they take a dying scientist to the planet Valdorion in what they believe is a search for a cure. Under advisement from Senator Tyrell and against his better judgment, the commander of the Undead agrees to take the youngest member of his mercenaries on the mission to the distant world. Mack gives fourteen year old Darkblood the task of protecting and transporting Victor Magnus, a scientist who is dying as a result of an accident in his lab. It is only when they reach Valdorion, the planet's only city, that Darkblood discovers the dark truth behind their mission.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome story! December 12, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
The Mission was an incredible book. I do not read normally read this genre, but after reading Bill's fantastic story, I may just reconsider!

When an author can create a world that does not exist and place characters in it that you grow to love (or hate!), that is the sign of a great author. Bill's development of scenes was so descriptive that I actually could picture the fantasy world he created. Lovers of science fiction books will eat this novel up as it explores human greed, treachery, lies, global type conspiracies and the depths that evil people will go to when world domination is at stake.

It also explores the powerful nature of love and friendship as well as the redeeming qualities of self-sacrifice for the greater good of mankind. What more can a reader ask for in a novel?

Cleverly written and full of intricate detail, this book comes alive in your hands as you hold your breath at times, waiting for surprises from the next chapter.

Pick it up today. You won't be disappointed!

5.0 out of 5 stars Good Story March 11, 2012

I really enjoyed this book. I am looking forward to more by this author. He kept the suspense going, and the pieces didn't start to fall into place until well into the book. I highly recommend this book.

4.0 out of 5 stars great scope March 9, 2012

The author uses a rare skill to begin a story part way through and then effectively communicate prior events that led to where we are. There is good resolution, and it is a complete story, but the author has allowed room to continue if desired. Character complexity has been attempted, and succeeds for the most part. There is room to improve this aspect, and is the only reason it is not 5 star. That being said, it is definitely worth the read.

More About the Author

Back in high school a friend of mine loaned me The Tripods trilogy by John Christopher. The world John Christopher created was fantastic. I couldn't get enough. While other kids were in class I was either out in the park or in the basement of the school reading. I went on to read greats like Earth Abides by George R. Stewart and found myself hooked on books in the post apocalyptic and scifi genres

As I continued to read through the years I would find myself closing the book at the end of a chapter and giving a lot of thought about how I would proceed. Sometimes the author and I were dead on but most times I found that I was just borrowing the writers characters and taking them on my own adventures. With the encouragement of others, I began to write.

So now, I drag myself out of bed early, sometimes hours before I have to go to work just to get a couple of pages of something written. Well, it is not always a couple of pages. Sometimes it may only be a couple of paragraphs. Sometimes, the only thing I accomplish is to decide that I didn't like what I wrote the morning before. But I do it because I have the need to see the end of the story and know that it was something I created.
