This set of bonus tracks is an excellent addition to what I feel is one of the best Beastie Boys albums ever.
I grew up enjoying their fun loving rap but have since grown to favor their soul/jazz/funk instrumentals like those first heard on Check your Head and Ill Communication. The Mix Up was the crowning achievement of the Boys journey down this road and these Bonus Tracks shed a little more light and a lot more funk on some of their best work IMHO.

Great chill tunes with a new mix on the Mix Up album. Listen, Live it, Love it.

Sounds like music from a 70s spy movie,

Beastie Boys funk edition. Music with the feel (and appeal) of a 70s spy movie complete with an elaborate double cross. This one just doesn't do it for me, any more than THE MIX UP did. Changing styles and reinventing a band is a dangerous proposition, and in these strange, ambient, funk hungry mixes, the hard edged quality of the Beastie Boys has been wallpapered over with Nouveau Realisme. Interesting, but ultimately unsatisfying from 'the boys.' If this were released by AIR it might have struck me differently.
