This cd seduced me right away. It is perfect to listen to late at night with candles flickering. There are twelve delightful songs on here, lots of groovy upright bass and sultry violins, vibes, xylophone, piano. It is a very enchanting collection, with a very subtle mischeivousness threaded throughout the album. Perfect music for a romantic dinner at home. Song number seven is a beautiful lullaby from the twenties(all of the songs are from France in the 1920's) that will make you melt. I recommend this beautiful album to everyone without reservation.

If you are considering buying this sountrack, consider no more. Buy it. You will not be sorry. I don't know how to describe this CD, but I'll give it a go. It is touching, dramatic, beautiful. The song Parlez-Moi D'Amour would be worth the money all by itself, yet the whole album nearly matches up to its gorgeous dreaminess. You will not be disappointed.

After seeing the movie again after many years, I realized how great the soundtrack is. Mark Isham did a great job with updating classic Twenties Jazz.

But, if you're into the ex-pat Paris artist/writer scence that was happening in this city before WWII erupted, the movie will be of interest, offering subtle, tongue-in-cheek performances by all of the actors...if you're into actual and moody music of the period, then you'll enjoy the soundtrack.

I first heard this music when I saw the movie, The Moderns. Very good film, outstanding music. I lost my copy of the music and, despite its being a bit pricey, I'm glad I replaced it.
