Robert Parker he is not. I really wanted my money back it was so dreadful. I feel like I should be anointed to sainthood for the ordeal.

Charles Stone, Esq, Boston investigative lawyer and sculptor, goes "Down Under" with his girlfriend, Jan.

His longtime friend and co-worker, Bo Jackson has his finger hacked off by assailants. When Stone receives it in the mail, delivered in a small box to his office, he knows his life of lazing around is doomed.

Arriving in Australia after alerting the airline crew of a suspicious man who it turns out is carrying poison disguised as diabetes insulin, he is in for a thrilling vacation. A hike lands him deep in a crevasse let down by a rope that is then dropped in after him. Time and again Stone nonchalantly escapes peril; and then wants to retire with a vodka martini and a quiet evening with his dog, Daisy.

Charles Fields is a good author, though I think some of the detail, the minute of historical places, historical trivia should have been left out; it was a little clunky in the telling. Dialogue tended to be a bit stiff as well. A good editor could make this story much better.

If you are looking for a fun detective story, you might like this.

We are honored you have selected to return to Outskirts Press to publish your sixth book with us. I am pleased to report that your latest manuscript has been accepted for publication through Outskirts Press. I want to be the first to congratulate you and welcome you back! Since I have had the pleasure of reviewing all of your submissions now I am not sure what more I can say about your writing. You have a certain style about your writing that cannot be matched. You always write with vivid details and once again you have created very round, believable characters (only further proving that we write best about what we know.) I really enjoyed the character you created in Charles. After reading the end of your work (despite the fact that you have listed this as a fiction story,) I wonder if you are Charles. I found myself really connected with what was going on in the story - you are a very compelling storyteller. You have written another wonderful story. Bravo! I always enjoy my review of your work.
