This CD has twelve of Kenny G's great tunes.

Rather than versatility, he expresses a kind of peace and love, and those seeking music with these qualities will find it here.

If you're into jazz, you probably won't like this, and if you're into rap/heavy metal you probably won't like it either.

The reviews are really polarized on this one, and I think it's because, while I like what Kenny G plays, it's not really jazz. It's more of a jazzy pop or something like that--or maybe how singers might sing if they could sing as quickly as Kenny G can play, and if they had the range of a saxophone.
If you're into jazz, you probably won't like this, and if you're into rap/heavy metal you probably won't like it either. But if you like easy listening music--the kind that you can get lost in and that brings the most wonderful thoughts and images to mind--then you very well might like it.

This CD has twelve of Kenny G's great tunes. You're right, it's not hot jazz, what it is is relaxing, romantic mood music. This CD sounds great as background music when my man and I are sitting in front of the fire, and even better when we are in the bedroom! We love this CD, and highly recommend it to all lovers!

Of Kenny G's CDs, or at least of the ones I have, this is a rather quiet and expressive set. Of course, it's geared for those who like Kenny G, and so is my review.
I don't think Kenny G is jazz. He's strictly easy listening or adult contemporary, although there are jazz embellishments here. This is a saxophonist expressing himself to those who choose to listen, and he creates an intimate atmosphere for his fans.
No, he's not one of the great versatile musicians, but he expresses and entertains those who are in the same flow that he is.
The only ones who mention his name in the same breath as Miles Davis and John Coltrane are his bashers. I haven't heard any Kenny G fan compare him with these jazz greats. Rather than versatility, he expresses a kind of peace and love, and those seeking music with these qualities will find it here.

I've seen Kenny G twice in concert and he is awesome and he has a sense of humor. He plays his music with a lot of passion unfortunately many people put him in the category of jazz and try to compare him to jazz musicians when even he admits he's not jazz, oh please what they heck are you talking about most true great musicians are never heard. So you're saying The Beatles we're great, U2, Green Day, Linkin Park, and so many other bands are mediocre cause they can actually sell a CD? Please!. Kenny G is an awesome musician and he can play the sax. Now if he wasn't that good why has he sold so many records? Why has he worked with such great artists such as Babyface, Brian McKnight, Leanne Rimes, Michael Bolton, Peabo Bryson, and so many more. So before you post that he's not that good and should compare him to some other jazz musicians then yeah your'e right he's not going to win the jazz category in which he's not in he's in easy listening/pop. Anyways I believe he's one of the greatest musicians of our generation.

When it comes to Instrumentals, I am sure fond of piano by Richard Meyrick, John Mitchell, Richard Claderman's music, Yanni, Pan Pipes etc. but Kenny G is my one choice alongwith Richard Claderman. Kenny G The Moment is a an excellent saxo cum piano with not too much of electronic sounds. A light listening playing in background of your thoughts while having cool lunch or dinners alone in recluse. I would not say this jazz coz that kinda music I ain't fond of much! Real Jazz isn't Kenny G style. The duetswith Toni Braxton & Baby Face are wonderful though in this album. The moment is the Best I would rate 5 Stars closely following Havana and Innocence, a number for soft n cool feeling. Always is another fav of mine and I luv playing The Moment & Always on my synthesizer esp.when it comes to chase the blues. Another Kenny G choice is Montage with cool songs like songbird and silhouette. A pick for a calm n cool collection!

Kenny G is one of the best saxophonists in the world, but he certainly could've done better than this. As a sax player who tends to enjoy funk rock and romantic ballads, there are very few songs on this CD that appeal to me. "Moonlight" and "Northern Lights" are probably the closest to my favorite genres, but "Gettin' on the Step" is a cool, laid-back light swing tune. Unless you are a Kenny G collector, I would pass this CD over.

I think that this album would be the best of his all album. In this album, he is not using keyboard much - In Breathless, which is his last album, using too much keyboards was his problem, I think - This fact is also one of the reason that many people who like jazz hate him. However, he is still making very nice songs, such as, in "The Moment" almost all are his sax and piano, also in "Always". In "Passages" and "Innocence", guitars are there instead of keyboards. "The Champion's Theme", which is trio with piano and string, jazzy "Gettin' On The Step" with piano, "Northern Lights" "Moonlight" are very good ballads with piano, and "Remember", which is only in some edition, very good rhythmic song.
I think this album feels very plain and soft, not much decorated by the "Electronic Sound" of keyboards. Just listen some songs in this album and in "Breathless". You can realize it.
However, I think some Keyboards are required because time passes and music is improving. I just don't like so much keyboards.
Actually I don't think his music is the real jazz, but very good jazzy pop or something like - contemporary jazz (smooth jazz).I recommand this album who wants to start jazz first, or someone who wants to listen to very beautiful saxophone sound, except the fans of the real and old jazz.
Without any doubt, this album is the best of Kenny G.
*sorry for my English.
*keyboard - I mean synthesizer.
