More About the Author

In March 2002 I read a quote "Our purpose in life is find our gift, perfect it and give it back to others". It inspired me to take early retirement from my PR job with the Social Security Administration and follow my passion to educate and empower women on financial issues. I retired on August 3, 2002 and founded Money Wise Women Educational Services, a non-profit organization. Today I host Money Wi$e Women Conferences throughout the Western United States. Since 11/02 more than 5,500 women have attended 55 Money Wi$e Women Conferences. I love it when women tell me how they took the information they learned at our conference and put it into action. My book is another way for me to educate and empower women.
I stepped way outside my comfort zone when I left my job with Social Security following Eleanor Roosevelt's advise "You gain strength, courage & confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face. You must do the thing you think you cannot do.' I encourage the women who read my book and/or attend our conference to do the same thing. Money and finances create a lot of fear in us, but just do it -- one step at time. Small action steps create big changes.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Real Eye Opener! October 28, 2008
Format:Paperback
In my job, I routinely counsel women who operate or wish to open their own businesses. For those who are finance-challenged and lack basic money knowledge, I highly recommend this book. I found The Money Therapist to be an extremely comprehensive, straightforward, reader-friendly, FUN book to read! I literally tore through it and learned a great deal along the way, particularly about the intricacies of social security and the importance of compiling an inventory of my home possessions.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent financial guide for men and women March 14, 2008
Format:Paperback
Marcia's book is exceptional; it is researched thoroughly and is very well organized and written. This kind of information should be a presented in some class before students complete high school. Certainly it is a must for every man and woman before they marry. Drs. Henry and Betty Grumbling, retired instructors, College of the Sequoias, Visalia, California.

This book was fantastic! It is very well written to make the concepts easy to understand as well as easy to implement. We all know what we are supposed to do with our money, but actually doing it is an entirely different thing. As a result of reading this book my husband and I have decided to put away our credit cards and go all cash. Given that we both work on commission I have always been nervous about this in the past, but now we truly see the impact it will have on our financial future and are ready to make the committment.

Thank you for the courage to do that!
