Book Description

New York reporter Paige MacKenzie has a hidden motive when she heads to the small town of Timberton, Montana. Assigned to research the area's unique Yogo sapphires for the Manhattan Post, she hopes to reconnect romantically with handsome cowboy Jake Norris. The local gem gallery offers the material needed for the article, but the discovery of an old diary, hidden inside the wall of a historic hotel, soon sends her on a detour into the underworld of art and deception.

Each of the town's residents holds a key to untangling more than one long-buried secret, from the hippie chick owner of a new age café to the mute homeless man in the town park. As the worlds of western art and sapphire mining collide, Paige finds herself juggling research, romance and danger. With stolen sapphires and shady characters thrown into the mix, will Paige escape the consequences of her own curiosity?

4.0 out of 5 stars I Will Read More of Garner July 9, 2014
By Doug
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This second book in the Paige MacKenzie series did not disappoint. An engaging mystery, interestingly quirky surroundings and characters -- yet it all seems believable. And written without jarring, crude language and explicit sex. A fun read. I look forward to reading more of Paige MacKenzie's adventures.

A good mystery that keeps ones interest to the very end. Also a Christian emphasis. I'm anxious to read others in the series.

5.0 out of 5 stars Not the Same Old Formula Mystery! June 11, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Refreshing to read a clever mystery that doesn't follow the tired old formula so common these days. You know the one - sassy/stubborn female amateur sleuth, handsome cop/detective, copious warnings against her "meddling", supposedly witty banter between them, etc. The only thing that changes is the setting!
This book is original and clever, and all the characters are quite likable. I totally enjoyed it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Cowboys and Sapphires April 24, 2014
By Kuzlin
Format:Kindle Edition
This is the 2nd book in the Paige MacKenzie series, but can be read as a stand-alone novel. Paige is a reporter for the Manhattan Post and is recently assigned to write a story on sapphire mining in Montana, to run in conjunction with a gem convention next month. She is excited about this assignment because this should give her a chance to spend some time with Cowboy Jake Norris (from Above the Bridge). who lives in nearby Jackson Hole. Once in Timberton, she quickly becomes entranced with the quirky residents. After finding part of an old diary hidden in the wall of her room, she realizes there is even more mystery to explore than learning about sapphire mining. Can her persistance and investigative skills solve this mystery, or will she get into more trouble than she can handle. I really enjoyed this cozy which had just the right amount of mystery with interesting, fleshed-out characters. I also liked the twist at the end that I did not see coming. I am looking forward to the next book in this series. Disclosure: I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

5.0 out of 5 stars A gem of a mystery June 29, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I read the first Paige MacKenzie mystery Under the Bridge and was captivated. I love to read about the same character in different books. This time Paige is back out west researching an article for her New York magazine, the Manhattan Post, on Yogo sapphires. It is no coincidence that her cowboy friend Jake Norris is nearby in Jackson Hole, Wyoming and that makes the trip all the better. The Moonglow Café is run by Mist a transfer from California. She serves wonderful food and philosophy. Paige finds a mystery in the town of Timberton,Montana along with the usual number of locals who hold secrets about the sapphires. I really liked the reference to a visit to the Buffalo Bill Museum in Cody, WY. I recently visited this museum on a trip out west and saw first hand the marvelous art collection. This a great mystery with little violence and I highly recommend it to mystery lovers. I can't wait for the next installment.

5.0 out of 5 stars Paige Does It Again April 16, 2014
Format:Paperback
Paige Mackenzie is back at work in New York City, but she is thinking about her sexy cowboy and longing to see him again. She misses Jake Norris. Today is her lucky day. Her editor is sending her to Montana to research sapphires. When Paige arrives in Timberton, she finds a small, rundown hotel and a town filled with interesting and mysterious residents. With her inquisitive nature who knows what she'll find in this small town. It all starts with a diary hidden behind the wall of her hotel room. Paige is intrigued. She can be tenacious in her investigation. Deborah Garner writes an addictive mystery. Everyone in this small town has their own story which interests our reporter and the reader. The mystery and the suspense keep building. There are so many twists and turns. The author mixes suspense with a sweet romance. There is great dialogue and a stellar cast of characters. I was completely surprised by the ending. The story was so well-plotted that I never saw it coming. Paige, as always, will keep you entertained in this cozy mystery.

I was gifted a copy of The Moonglow Café by the author in exchanged for an honest and unbiased review.

I enjoyed my first meeting with Paige MacKenzie. I was hooked from the very beginning and had to read it in one sitting! Enjoyable cozy set out west in a sleepy mining town. Learned about sapphire mining which was fun! Also enjoyed the characters, secret hidey holes and passage ways. The meals sounded yummy. It was a delightful read and I highly recommend it. I am going to read the first one in the series now and look forward to the next one.

I was gifted this eBook in return for my honest and unbiased review. I am going to buy the paperback myself so I can lend it out!
