Review

“A top-notch writer.”—Nelson DeMille

“EXCITING…CHILLING.”—Publishers Weekly

“Deutermann writes a first-class page turner.”—Atlanta Journal Constitution

From the Back Cover

From one of “the crime genre’s more original and memorable” (Booklist) voices comes a terrific and terrifying thrill ride, filled with insider details about the ultimate terrorist threat—and how it might unfold…THE MOONPOOL

A private detective working in Wilmington, North Carolina, is found dead in a gas station restroom. When her body sets off radiation alarms in the pathologist’s office, suspicion falls on the nearby Helios nuclear power plant. The most vulnerable part of Helios is its “moonpool”— the radioactive storage pond that cools spent but volatile reactor fuel, and must be kept completely full...

“EXCITING…CHILLING.”—Publishers Weekly

As the FBI, local police, and the power plant’s own security team investigate, ex-cop Cam Richter begins his own inquiries. What was this detective investigating—and how could she have been poisoned by radiation without others being exposed? Cam soon discovers an inside threat, a plan to use the plant’s own systems to begin an unstoppable, disastrous sequence of events. And time is already running out…

“Deutermann writes a first-class page turner.”

I like to read a lot of books, so I don't have space to keep all of them around after I've read them once. My favorites get shelf space so I can re-read them, but the others go to the coffee-shop community book-lending shelf. This one was entertaining and just twisty enough to get saved for a second (and maybe third) reading.

I've been reading Mr. Deutermann's novels since "Scorpion in the Sea" and I haven't been disappointed yet. His characters are vivid and realistic. "The Moonpool" is a very exciting and well crafted novel with the popular Cam Richter leading the way. I would highly recommend this novel and any of the past works of this author to anyone who wants a good read.

As usual with this author not disappointed. It was so good that I just ordered his last hardback. If you're an avid reader of crime thrillers don't miss this author.
