This book is not a technical aquarium book! (it actually says that in the book's introduction) It doesn't even try, so don't buy it if you're looking for information on how to set-up an aquarium or raise tropical fish. It IS a book about aquariums that are incorporated into beautiful interior designs. If you are looking for some inspirational ideas for using an aquarium as a dynamic and significant piece of decor this is a great book.

I love this book. It's got better photos on better paper than the book "The Inspired Aquarium: Ideas and Instruction for Living with Aquariums" and I had thought that was the best until now.

Let me preface my review by stating that I am not trying to be mean or harsh, just honest and objective.

The title of this book places itself on a rather high pedestal, (plot spoiler alert) I'm about to knock it off that pedestal and attempt to put it in its place.

I found the book extremely disappointing! The content and presentation are lacking.

The content. Yes there are some nice aquariums in this book. Certainly not the "most beautiful in the world" so don't expect that. However, the biggest problem I had with this book was the presentation, specifically the photography.

This book, in my opinion should be visually stunning, captivating even. It is not, so again, don't expect that. Good photography would have allowed the reader to be drawn into studying each minute detail of the subject matter as if it were fine art. Truly amazing aquariums exceed fine art in my opinion, but that is not the point of this review.

Instead, indulge me for a moment, the photography and feel of the book has the incongruity one might feel or experience when viewing an ad for a steak house in any given in flight magazine. You know that quasi subconscious conundrum that your brain can't process as to why this purportedly world class steak house is using a remarkably horrible photograph to promote their establishment. That is how I would describe the essence of this book.

I had high hopes for this book and was excited about acquiring it to add to my collection. I was hoping it would be a book to savor. A book to go back to time and time again, to be inspired by. It is not any of these. Instead when I do open this book I'm baffled by it. I'm astounded by the utterly mediocre and rather amateur photography.

no so good pictures, and the comments are basic, something that every aquarist know. And trust me, these are not the most beautiful aquariums in the world, not ugly but not really good.
