Book Description

Within the course of a week, Natalie is dumped by her husband, receives an urgent call home
from her father, and discovers her estranged sister is pregnant.

A
road trip on Route 66 may not help, but it sure couldn't hurt. Or so Natalie thinks, until
Lindsay's boyfriend starts stalking them. Will their trip down the Mother Road bring the two
sisters closer together or turn out to be the biggest wrong turn yet?

"Relationships are the backbone of The Mother Road, and AlLee gives
us real ones, conflicted and complicated. I alternated between cheering Natalie and wanting to
smack her upside the head. Not that her younger sister is perfect. Not by a long shot. But I
fell in love with these characters and wished the road trip hadn't ended so soon. Novel Rocket
and I give it a very high recommendation. It's a must read." Ane Mulligan, Sr. Editor

a simply smashing story. Not to be missed!" - Patti Lacy Author, Reclaiming

"I felt like I was right there in the car with
estranged sisters, Natalie and Lindsay, as they motored down The Mother
Road
toward a future free from heartache, loneliness, and fear. You don't want to
miss this fun story that will tweak your every emotion (and a few you might have
forgotten about)! I'm making space on my "keepers shelf" for this one!" - Loree Lough,

3.0 out of 5 stars Delightful, quick read. May 15, 2012
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
How I choose my star ratings:
1 = Groaner. Probably didn't even finish it.
2 = Yawner. Poorly written or weak story.
3 = Recliner. Enjoyed the read.
4 = Page Turner. Hard to put down.
5 = Keeper. A story that stays with me

I did not realize this book is "Christian Fiction" before I downloaded it to my Kindle which is a good thing because I probably would not have chosen it if I had realized it. CF is just not a genre I generally choose.

The story starts out being about divorce and infidelity so I was ready to dislike it. However, the characters drew me in pretty quickly. I decided to stay with it.

It develops in to a wonderful story about sisters and family and discovery. It has humor and tenderness. The Christian aspect is certainly integral to the story but not overplayed.

The author has an easy-going, breezy style of writing that is great when you just want to enjoy the ride and not have to overthink the plot line. All in all, It was a very pleasant afternoon read.

Unlike her messed-up baby sister Lindsay, marriage writer/speaker Natalie has it all...until the day her husband blows all eighteen wheels on her fame and fortune semi and announces he's filing for the big D.

Natalie's long held together their family, or so she thinks; unlike Lindsay, now pregnant, unemployed, burgundy streaked hair eerily announcing to conservative Natalie her sister's weirdness.

When the two siblings get an SOS from home, the mismatched duo heads down Route 66, The Mother Road. Tailing them is a veritable convoy of resentment, anger, love...and a man that's either a stalker or a sweetheart. Can Natalie and Lindsay steer onto that narrow lane of God's perfect plan, or will dead ends, speed bumps, and sink holes keep them stuck forever in overdrive?

In this her latest Abingdon release, Jennifer AlLee somehow manages to combine humor and angst, a TIGHT plot with sleight-of-hand symbolism and irony.

DO NOT miss The Mother Road, y'all, just another example of why Jennifer AlLee is a women's fiction writer in that fast lane!!!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Fasten your seat belt for a fun ride! May 6, 2012

I saw this title on a friend's website, and I'm so glad I did. I thoroughly enjoyed the ride; AlLee's humorous voice, spot-on descriptions and dimensional, believable characters make the trip along Route 66 a page turner. One of those reads you're sorry when the journey ends. I hope there are more books planned with these characters, and I've already added this talented author's other books to my to-be-read list.
