5.0 out of 5 stars The Muffs, So Underated....
The Muffs are definately one of the greatest pop-punk bands around. It is extremely evident in their first self-titled release. This is the kind of LP that you can't keep off the platter, and never sees the inside of a record sleave. This is a must buy for any punk rocker that claims to have taste. This band should soon recieve the credit they deserve for their...

3.0 out of 5 stars Average - Somewhere In The Middle
I've been listening to this record since it came out in 1993, and i am still undecided as to exactly how good it is.

In some respects, it has the makings of a classic album with songs such as "baby go round" & "stupid jerk". They're definetely trademark Muffs songs, with brilliant jamming from the guitarists.

However, the track that disappointed me was "all for...

The Muffs are definately one of the greatest pop-punk bands around. It is extremely evident in their first self-titled release. This is the kind of LP that you can't keep off the platter, and never sees the inside of a record sleave. This is a must buy for any punk rocker that claims to have taste. This band should soon recieve the credit they deserve for their inspiring female vocals and their catchy lyrics. Kim Shattuck's vocals and lyrics are a force to be reckoned with.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Best Punk Pop out there!, September 15, 2005
This review is from: The Muffs (Audio CD)
This album far outshines anything that was outthere at the time...They kinda sound like Green Day, only better.
I only wish that they would tour more often!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars one of my favorite records of all time, December 27, 2004
This review is from: The Muffs (Audio CD)
although i could do without kim shattuck screaming at the top of her lungs in a couple of places, this is otherwise a fantastic record. great big choruses, intelligent songwriting, and nifty chord changes make this a cross between joan jett and the shirelles. i saw the muffs play the lounge axe on tour for this record, and the crowd, packed tightly into the club, danced and sang for the whole show -- the best concert i've EVER been too. afterwards i shook hands with kim and she's got this strong manlike handshake that i'll never forget. whoo-ee!

5.0 out of 5 stars A Blast, August 2, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: The Muffs (Audio CD)
I like to think of this as the one cd I would bring along on the space shot, if I could bring only one cd from the 1990's. Kim Shattuck is every rock guy's rock girl fantasy. How many times have I heard some guy say "I have the biggest crush on Kim...?" Hey, I had a crush on her first, get in line. The Muffs debut is song after song of nearly perfect power pop gems, complete with authentic screams from Kim, and high energy everything else from the band. This is what rock and roll is all about. It's loud, infectious, raw, fast and it's Kim. Their best album.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Rock-Pop Female Vocal Album of The 90s?, June 19, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: The Muffs (Audio CD)
I'm not kidding when I say these songs are as melodic as Sixties Pop from artists from the Beach Boys, Beatles, and Brill Bldg. But Kim and company rock as those has-beens never quite imagined. I doubt everyone will appreciate their fun, trashy style, but if you like music with beautiful chord changes, ear-splitting volume, hilarious lyrics, unforgettable melody, noise, undeniable good humor, and even that forgotten skill--harmony--get this CD--don't just listen to the digital amazon samples--and congratulate yourself on your eclectic and wise choice. I'm writing this review mostly because the Mufs have a new one out, but I saw only one other before this on their first CD, and I've enjoyed The Muffs music for nearly ten years...

Great music the way it's supposed to be...simple. The only band I know that writes whole albums worth of catchy singles. They should just release 45lps. Best band in the world

In the end, the jury is out..and i can't see the wood for trees. On this one, i think it's safe to sit on the fence.

3.0 out of 5 stars Out of five, I'll go for three, May 16, 2003

This review is from: The Muffs (Audio CD)
I got this Muffs CD for christmas last year and at first I wasn't sure how to react. I'd never heard of a band called the Muffs before!
I've listened to it a lot since then and have to say that I'd score it somewhere in the middle - a 3 out of 5, or a 5 or 6 out of 10 if you prefer.
Interesting to note, I looked at Mr. Dubbing and Mr. Kilt's review and have to say I disagreed to some extent. "All for nothing" is one of my favourite tracks! The accordion solo is particularly fantastic (by new member Stalin, I believe).
Overall, I'd have to say it depends on how you look at it.
