Editorial Reviews

2013 release, the second volume of songs featured in the first season of the hit TV series Nashville. The series stars Connie Britton as Rayna Jaymes, a legendary country music superstar, whose stardom begins fading, and Hayden Panettiere as rising teen star Juliette Barnes. In the series, Rayna James is the established "Queen of Country" music. However, her latest album is not selling well and her tour is playing to half empty venues. Her record label suggests that she open for Juliette Barnes, the young and sexy best selling singer of bubble gum country. However, Juliette, seeing Rayna as washed up, purposefully alienates her and Rayna, who dislikes Juliette's style of music, rejects a joint tour out of hand. The two women come into conflict as both try to get guitarist Deacon Claybourne (Charles Esten), Rayna's bandmate and former lover, to sign onto their tour. The soundtrack features performances from the two starts as well as Charles Esten, Sam Palladio and others.

I love this show! When given the opportunity to buy the first season's music I jumped at the chance. Unfortunately I was very disappointed with Volume 1 I only recognized 3 songs and really didn't like the rest. BUT here! WOW all the songs I fell in love with from the very beginning of the show. This second release was a surprise and worth the purchase. I have the second season on my wish list and hope AMAZON will place the option to listen before I buy first, I hate it when the producers of an album from a show like this tease their viewers and listeners with buying without being able to listen to a sampling. I had not written down the names of the songs or knew the members of the cast well enough when this show came on the air when I bought Vol 1. So I believed I would get all those fabulous songs I heard the first season on the first album.....NOT! People must have complained about Vol 1 for this second album to be released....thank you.

every bit as good as when played on the show itself....it's interesting how each of the artists' music develops as the TV series expands. a must-purchase for any fan of Nashville.

One of those CD you play some songs over and over and skip some songs because they are terrible. Maybe better to download specific songs.

While I do like this soundtrack, I like Season 1, Vol. 1 better. The is an innovative show which provides a great platform for new music & songwriters. I am not a life-long country music fan but I am now!

This is really good and if you're a Nashville fan you'll really love this CD. These singers are as good as the greats of country music.

If you're a fan of the TV series "Nashville," you're going to LOVE this CD. I've never been into country music until I saw the show. Now, I play this CD way too much. My favorite bittersweet songs is "Stronger Than Me," and "Fade into You" is one of the prettiest ballads I've heard in awhile. There isn't one song on the whole CD that I skip. This is a great album to listen to while you're jonsing for the new season of "Nashville!"

No Charles Esten?
Charles Esten does have a song on the 2nd Volume Deluxe Edition available at Target - "Matchbox Blues". There's 5 extra songs on this CD (16 total) and it's well worth the price!

What's With The Short CDs?
More songs. Some cds now have 12-14 songs. Fans have waited for another release. To get more songs you have to pay for the mp3s-unfair. It would sell more with more songs. The cd should have had Charles E on it as well. That is really messed up!
