Book Description

The Myth & the Snow: An isolated Arctic surveyor must choose whether to rescue a colleague or return to civilization. In this psychological thriller the terror comes from many sources; isolation, the elements, guilt, and the horrible snow beast which may or may not exist.

Editorial Reviews

From the Author

When I read 'To Build a Fire' by Jack London in grade school, it gave me a fright that never faded entirely. I thought of the horror of that tale periodically over the years, and eventually it inspired my own Arctic tale of death. This is one of the tales of which I'm most proud.

3.0 out of 5 stars good tale August 25, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I read this and another by same author. This is a better story in my opinion.

This is a very short piece that can be read on a coffee break. A tale of wilderness men who are wardens (of a sort) of sectors in a land. It is time to come in for the season. In lore, there is told of a creature and there is wonder if it exists. Men and their beasts must traverse land in a snow storm and avoid this creature if it exists. Who makes it back of the three initial men from the outposts? You will have to read to find out.

I reduced a star due to the poor editing that left this ten page offering in fairly bad condition.

3.0 out of 5 stars The myth and the snow. May 22, 2013

Good story. This author can write! I would have been happier had it been longer, but I can't always get what I want! I got chilly reading this, and nervous. Sort of like I was expecting the boogie man to jump out any moment! Good short read.

This seemed to be written more for a younger audience rather than adult readers. Very predictable from the first page.

More About the Author

I became inspired to write classically-styled short horror after purchasing a collection of old horror tales at a yard sale. The book featured works by F. Marion Crawford, William Hope Hodgson, Seabury Quinn, le Fanu, Robert Chambers, and many other of the early masters. Since that time I have been published in Doorways Magazine, Monomyth Magazine, and within the book 'Horror-tica'. I also wrote and directed the feature length film "Disposal of a Corpse". All of my literary works are available on Kindle.
