5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant Author, June 22, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Please don't be disappointed, in that I haven't actually read the entire book in it's final form. However, I have read much of it over the past couple of years through Nancy's various blogs and webpages. She's a brilliant writer and her style will whisk you along in such a way that you completely loose track of time. Her story is one of self discovery and healing. As a result of her journey, Nancy's talents have led her to share her story helping others discover their hidden talents within, and to expand on their spiritual journey through self expression and acceptance of one's own divine love. Please, do yourself a favor, buy this book, you will not only treasure it, but you'll grow to love Nancy as well.

The Nancy Who Drew is a masterful memoir that invites us to reflect upon our own quest for understanding life's mysteries. Its poignancy is compelling in that the author invites us to share the travails of her life as it unfolds. As a result the journey becomes a stirring account of a young woman revealing her failures and challenges with honesty and passion. She never loses sight of an indomitable spirit that will bring her to finally understand the reasons for her struggles and resolve the mystery of her birth.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Transformational Journey From Actress To Artist, August 11, 2011
Nancy Wait's memoir, "The Nancy Who Drew," is not only beautifully written, but a page turner as well, a totally absorbing story of coming of age in the turbulent sixties. An idealistic Manhattanite leaves her zany family life for England in the days of the British Invasion and Carnaby St. couture. From childhood Nancy has been searching for herself, from her earliest memory of a bear in her crib, to her graduation from high school and college, studying acting, performing in plays, and on to England to fulfill a dream of attending RADA and becoming an English actress. Nancy finds her way through various karmic relationships and the changing sexual mores of the times, supporting herself with odd jobs and interesting men who expect all of her attention. She works hard, plays "Blanch" in Streetcar among other roles, and eventually realizes she doesn't want to impersonate other characters but to examine her own character by discovering her soul, her inmost, inner self which is a hard-won victory. Her exuberance, joie de vivre, adaptability and courage take her on a bumpy ride through various rented rooms and flats and travels in Europe, all the time keeping in touch with the mysteries of her childhood, an absent birth father, a loving if eccentric, mother and the city of New York. On her final journey home on a Polish freighter, she crosses the water both literally and symbolically to resolve the mystery within herself and the old soul that she carries. I loved this book which revisits the era of the 60's and 70's so vividly and exhibitss the liberation of one woman and her hidden talents throughout an amazing life.
