Editorial Reviews

From the Author

This isn't really a book - it's a series of vignettes involving the hero of my full length novel Yours Mine and Howls. In Yours, Mine and Howls, there's lots of mentions about all the trouble Cade MacDougall has faced with nannies. When the story opens, he's on the fifth nanny, and his daughter is barely four. I thought it would be fun to tell the stories of the first four nannies and how they didn't work out. The stories were on my blog for a long time. I polished them up and put them here.

If you've already read Yours, Mine and Howls, I hope you enjoy this. If you haven't read it yet, and you're interested in hot cowboy werewolves and a series of books that aren't like everything else out there (or so I flatter myself), maybe you'd like to check out The Nanny Years.

More About the Author

I'm a law librarian by day, mommy and romance writer by night. People at my church and my daughter's school don't know about the romance writer part. I hope I can keep it that way, but I'm afraid Facebook will rat me out soon.

Native Texan with one husband, one daughter, two and half dogs and a hedgehog.

Hate roaches, turtlenecks, olives, laundry and math.

I have a crush on the Duke of Wellington.

NOTE:

I appreciate the time readers take to post reviews of my books, whether positive or negative. I do not publicly respond to reviews; reviews are intended for readers, not for authors. Reviewers, including readers who post reviews here on Amazon or on Goodreads, have the absolute right to express their opinions without fear of intimidation or harassment.

When I get a negative review, I open a bottle of wine. When I get a positive review, I open a bottle of wine. If you post a review of my book, the worst that will happen is that I get a hangover. Don't let that stop you.

This is a prequel to her full length novel "Yours, Mine and Howls". It's REALLY a funny look at what the main character had to go through before he meets Allie in the book. It starts with Cade bringing his brand new baby home from Atlanta and how ignorant and helpless he fells in the airport, though really happy to be bringing his little girl home. Which I think every new Mom can relate to. Then it goes through all the disasters with nanny after nanny. Luckily, non of them were abusive to Rebecca, just loons, or drunks, or practicing Magik (yes w/ a K) and the powerful alpha hopeless to change the situation. Hilarious! I kept expecting to see grown Alphas cry.

This was up on Kinsey Holley's website for free before the book came out and it's one of the reasons I bought "Yours, Mine and Howls". But she changed it up a little, and I like being able to have it all the time especially for only .99

Just a warning. This is not a full story. It's a lot of funny situations, and it's a fun read on it's own, but it's going to make you want to buy the full novel!

however, I do think this 'prequel' should be read AFTER the novel Yours, Mine and Howls: Werewolves in Love, Book 2. I know it sounds odd to read the chronologically earlier book first (and NOT how I usually like to do it--it's like the Titanic, if you know the boat sinks why read the book?) but in this case the stories here are just much funnier in the context of well, you know how it ends and the getting there is the fun part.

As mentioned in the blurb this is a series of chapters/shorts telling the stories of the nannies that poor Cade/Michael and Becca had to go through before the events of YMH. We knew there were 'nanny problems' and boy were there! This is more than the 'slice of life'/POV changes/vignettes that are getting published here and there with other series (and I like those too), these are full blow shorts.

Again, they make more sense in the context of the actual novel and are really quite funny.

HIGHLY recommended, but read YMH first (also highly recommended, I gave that one a 5 star too).

This is not an erotic romance prequel - but it is definitely a fun fill follow up to YOURS, MINE AND HOWLS!

In YOURS, MINE AND HOWLS ( a 5 star book), the reader is introduce to the fact that Cade has had a terrible time trying to keep or find a nanny that he can trust for his daughter. No details are given about the previous nannies just the fact that Cade is not having much luck in that department. The details of why or how are not laid out in YOURS, MINE AND HOWLS but that did not take away from the novel or cause any "HUH" moments. You do not need to read this prequel to enjoy the novel - but this does satisfy a reader's curiosity about that small detail. It is so funny and enjoyable - it won't turn you on - but it will have you laughing out loud!

Another way that I would approach it is download both this prequel and the novel - YOURS, MINE AND HOWLS: WEREWOLVES IN LOVE - read the prequel first, then immediately go on to read the novel. Look at the prequel as maybe the first couple of chapters that give the background on the nannie problem and why Cade was leery about Ally filling that position. While it's not necessary to read the prequel to understand or love the novel, it is a good addition.

I really loved learning about the nanny drama before the actual book begins (Yours, Mine, and Howls). I thought it was a great prequel to the series and gladly paid the .99 for it :)

Don't miss the Nanny tales it's hilarious. It's really funny if you have already read Yours, Mine and Howls. I don't miss any of her stories if I can help it. They are worth reading again and again. My only complaint is I'm still waiting for the story about the Texas Alpha and his secretary.
