There are better sources out there
on July 2, 2013
I found this book to be of little actual help to people who want to network their way into a better job. There were a few good suggestions, but the bulk of the book is emails sent back and forth from the author to others. Reading others' emails just isn't that interesting. In one incident, the author got angry with an organization that requested that she remove a Facebook "fan" page and she stubbornly refused. This is one instance in which I think she was wrong and she angered people who were part of an organization she supported. I asked a couple of college students what they would do if they wanted to learn how to network with others. They all said they would do a Google search and look for articles from qualified sources (Harvard Business Review and the like). They also said that most colleges have placement offices with mini courses on networking. That sounds like a lot better plan than reading this book.
