I have a small collection of antique cookbooks - and I must say that this is the one that gets the most use. The recipes are straightforward; many of them can be made with ingredients that one typically has on-hand.

There are marvelous recipe for pie crust and old-fashioned shortcake that always win compliments. :)

This is a fascinating old cookbook! A treasure to have on my shelf! I have made dishes from the recipes & YUM! These are old Yankee recipes based on what was available on the East Coast. It has more than recipes it even has little bits of info from the time. This is a truly OLD book! It's just great! I'm thrilled that I have it! If you are intrested in older books or cookbooks or simply want to cook a more "simple" dish, you will just love this book!

No matter how cooking and cookbooks change over the years/centuries, some recipes just never lose their solid good taste. The New England Yankee Cookbook is filled with just such recipes: good, solid food with great taste. What more could one need?! Easy to follow, easy to eat. Perfect.

Fun book to read, lots of information about cooking years ago. I ordered this on for someone I work with who looked at my copy and wanted one for herself. I have made some of the recipes in this book. One of my favorites is the Cider Cake.

The New England Yankee Cookbook was my mother's favorite. She gave it to me, and I just gave her copy to my niece for Christmas. Then, of course I wanted another copy for myself. There are many delicious old-fashioned recipes, and although they are old-fashioned, they are entirely doable today. Anyone who has a taste for great down-home New England cooking will be happy with this cookbook.
