1.0 out of 5 stars Did not like this edition. July 27, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
The price was right however not recommended if you are reading Shakespeare aloud. There was no differentiation in the print between the name of the speaker and what he was saying. This is how it appears (I am making up the words):
Jason. Caesar was a good guy. We shouldn't have killed him.
Antony. Friends, Romans and Countrymen...
The speaker's name is not in bold font or separated from his speech by spacing, font or by line. There was the dot which was not enough.
The note marks appeared like this [45]. And there were so many notes. They got in the way.
Otherwise, a really good play!

2.0 out of 5 stars You get what you pay for. February 9, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
The annotations for this edition of the play are overly erudite and hard to understand. I felt that they offered little insight to help me understand the text. The line breaks and line numbering were also a headache as they are not standard. Plus, to make matters worse, there is not working table of contents or section divisions per act or scene. All in all, you'd be better off getting a different version or a copy in print.

3.0 out of 5 stars The Annotations May Need Annotations December 5, 2011
By Toph
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Unlike many Kindle editions of Shakespeare, this one contains annotations. Unfortunately, the annotations were written over a hundred years ago with a scholarly audience in mind, which may make them more perplexing than useful to a student / casual reader. The 50 pages of introductory material present similar challenges.

Formatting is also a serious issue. Lines run over and into each other. Because the speakers' names are not in bold, it is often difficult to tell whose line is which.

At least it's free.

3.0 out of 5 stars Digital conversion could use some improvement December 13, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This is not a rating on content. The content is fine - it's Shakespeare!

This is a rating on the electronic display conversion. The digital conversion causes this to display awkwardly on my Android reader. Line spacing is often random and gibberish letters are peppered throughout making this difficult to read in some sections. It's a free book, so I can't criticize too much, but since Amazon asked for my review, I offer the above.

1.0 out of 5 stars Good price ruining a beautiful play July 6, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition
I wanted to read this because I was going to be in a JC play, but it is hard to read. There are numbers in front of words in some places, and as someone mentioned, it is hard to tell the speaker from his lines.

3.0 out of 5 stars Required for my daughter's class. March 29, 2014

The book arrived quickly, in good shape. It was the right edition. We may hang on to it in case she needs it again in high school.

4.0 out of 5 stars Basic e-text February 24, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
We needed an extra copy of the Shakespeare plays to do a high school group reading of Julius Caesar. Perfect for that. Easy to jump to each act/scene, to mark up with notes, highlight vocabulary, etc.
