First, let me say that the Lean For Life Diet is fabulous!! Great results! Here, I am talking ONLY about the book. I was so excited that this new version was coming out and preordered it, based on how happy I have been with the previous versions! I am SO disappointed!! I am familiar with the previous versions of this book, in fact I have them all, both in paperback, and where available, in kindle format. I read this new version straight through, and I hate it!!! Compared to the earlier versions, it is very choppy and hard to read. I liked having all the items that were shoved into the appendix in this version within the daily readings in the old versions. They felt more like a daily workbook; a handy guide as you work through your weight loss journey. This new version felt like I was reading a poorly written novel. I found all the gray boxes with Dr. Allouche's medical theory to be tedious and an interruption to what I am interested in....the actual process/steps to losing weight. I would've much preferred that Dr. Allouche's information was what was to be found in the appendix. I soon found that I was not interested in what he had to say, and like commercials on the TV, I began to skip them all. I also found very little new information other then Dr. Allouche's additions. I would not recommend this version of the book. Rather, I would recommend the earlier versions in a heartbeat. I believe they are much better written and easier to read/follow. The older versions are much more user friendly! Finally, I found it interesting that the equilibrium phase was covered in just a few pages...glossed over. In the previous version, this phase required a whole book. I have ALL versions, and I will go back to following the earlier versions....I'm sorry I purchased this one! Buy the older versions!!!!

This is a good weight loss program, but it is presented in an unhelpful format. As I read through it, sometimes I wanted to go back and reread or find a specific piece of information, but it is so hard to find what I want. So much of this book is bullet points, bold print, and info highlighted in shaded sections, that the whole book is like a visual cacophony of information.

However the kicker for me is that there are very frequent QR codes that, if you have a smart phone, can take you to more information on the web. If you don't have a smart phone, you are out of luck. So, for example on page 103, there is a QR code and beside it is written, "Take the Denial Quiz on our website to see if denial may be impacting your life." I don't have a smart phone and there is no link given to access the quiz without a smart phone. This happens about a dozen times in the book. It's not bad enough that they periodically promote their special products, but now I have to go out and get a new phone just to get the info I want?!?

So my recommendation would be to skip this book and buy an older edition of Lean for Life that is set up better and free from QR Codes, if you are interested in going on this diet, which looks like a pretty decent weight loss diet.

I've used the previous books in this series for weight loss and have been very impressed by the rational approach that Lean For Life takes towards losing weight.

It starts with a three-day prep and then follows with a four week weight loss program. The dieter gets a good look at the inner workings of their mind as they progress through the process. The diet also provides a lot of information on 'good' foods and 'bad' foods.

A lot of the diet is based on a cognitive behavioral approach combined with a reasonable diet. Mind and body together are used to conquer cravings and overeating.

I highly recommend this approach to losing weight. It has worked for me before and I know it can work again if I set my mind to it.

I have completed this book/ program and have had a great success of a 40lbs weightloss. By reading and following the program to a T.
So areas of the program seam a little cheesy but dont let that fool you. This is a program written and aproved by doctors and I am living proof that it works.
I do have to warn that this program is not for the faint of heart. You will get hungry and have cravings at times but the book teaches you how to work through it and overcome your battles.
I promise, this book is a helpful tool but only YOU can decide if you will succeed.
These are my before and after picture of only using this program. I have 40 more lbs to go and I will use it again starting next week... read the book and you will know why 😊

Up until a few years ago, I suffered from a debilitating case of fibromyalgia. I was also overweight and gaining more everyday. I decided enough was enough and began a journey to healing through dietary changes. I have since rid myself of the fibromyalgia and 60 pounds that I felt was slowly killing me. I did countless hours of research and read several books on health and weight loss. I have read some amazing and useful books and I have read some disappointing books. This book was somewhere in between. I first have to ask the question, how on earth can a book that is promoting health and weight loss include diet soda on the shopping list? With all the emerging research on the dangers of artificial sweeteners and diet soda, I can't help but wonder what these authors are thinking. I am also very curious about these "Lean for Life Protein Snacks" that are being sold throughout this book. What body harming chemicals are in those? Just eat an apple and some unsalted nuts. We don't need that other stuff, it just slows our progress. All that said, there is some good information in this book. It is a bit disorganized, but I did find a lot of useful information. Throughout my journey to health, I have read many books and programs, but I have not taken any one of them as gospel. I follow the advice and guidance of many health experts and I would not recommend this book being the only source of health info. I did learn a few things and I really appreciated the mental aspects involved in weight loss. That is something that has been lacking in most of the books I have read and the authors stress it in this book. So, that was a huge plus for me.
