Editorial Reviews

From the Inside Flap

’Twas the night before Christmas at NORAD’s home base,
Not an airman was stirring, each one was in place,
Ready and waiting for the very first sight
Of good old St. Nick on his Christmas Eve flight!

Every year on Christmas Eve, our North American Aerospace Defense Command—otherwise known as NORAD—tracks Santa as he leaves the North Pole and delivers presents to children all around the world. But on this particular Christmas Eve, a big blizzard knocks Santa and his reindeer off course. Can NORAD find Santa? Will the world’s children find gifts in their stockings on Christmas morning?

Beautifully written in the manner of Clement Clark Moore’s “The Night Before Christmas,” boys and girls of all ages will be riveted watching NORAD’s daring rescue unfold to save Santa’s big day! Vibrant illustrations by award-winning illustrator Michael Garland will captivate readers in this exciting, edge-of-your-seat adventure.

From the Back Cover

’Twas the night before Christmas and—oh no—Santa is lost!
Caught in a blizzard swirling with snow and much too much frost.
Just when it looks like Christmas is through—
Come NORAD’s brave heroes in red, white, and blue—and maple leaves, too.

I got this book a couple days ago and I absolutely enjoy reading it.

Being a big fan of Christmas books, I've always thought the tradition of the US military's NORAD tracking Santa is very cute. It's so great to see someone has turned the idea into a book.

The book is fun, warm, beautifully written with interesting graphics and very educational for little kids. I can't wait for Christmas already!

My four year old son has clamored for me to read him this book every night for the last week since I gave it to him. Every time that we read it, he asks new questions about Santa, NORAD, and the reindeer. There is something for everybody in this book as it is one that celebrates teamwork while invoking a sense of patriotic pride. This is a story that is just long enough for your child to snuggle into your arms and get lost in the rhymes of a story of adventure, camraderie and celebration. It is one that allows my son to stretch his imagination while teaching the importance of working together with others. It is a book that allows us to read aloud certain passages. If you are looking for a new children's book to try, I would encourage you to buy this book. It is fun, catchy, and most of all, my son absolutely loves it.

This is a very enjoyable and heartwarming story.

Wonderful story of the how with NORAD's help, Santa was able to complete his mission.

The "Wrapping it Up" sections at the end of the book are especially fun to read.

Keane's story is sure to be enjoyed by many children and adults, alike.
Garland's illustrations are first rate.

Highly recommended.

A brilliantly fresh and heart-warming look at a classic holiday story. Children of all ages will love this inspired rescue tale sparkling with imagination and action. Beautifully written and illustrated, Michael Keane's story is a wonderful compliment to "The Night before Christmas", as it takes children along on an exhilarating search for Santa Claus after a massive snowstorm puts the world's toy deliveries at risk. Packed with fun and excitement, my daughters were enthralled by the book, and have gone back to reread it over and over again.
Keane's ability to tell a mesmerizing children's story is impressive. Even more so, considering he's also the author of such smartly written works as, the Dictionary of Modern Strategy, and a fascinating biography of General George Patton, titled, "Blood, Guts and Prayer". Keane's storytelling range and ability to captivate readers of all ages and interests is tremendous.
A master storyteller, Michael Keane deserves rich praise for bringing new inspiration, excitement and joy to Christmas. Destined to become a classic, my family hopes `The Night Santa Got Lost' finds its way to film and television screens as a fun and action-packed animated feature. As a family that considers holiday films must see viewing, we can easily see this story as a future 3-D holiday hit!
